Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

The Accent still selling 1000+ numbers monthly. Sure makes me glad I'm not driving an 'out-of-production' car

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL), announced that it has registered its highest ever domestic sales of 1857 nos. in the month of January 2011 as against 40 nos. in January 2010.

Out of the total 1857 units, Nissan Micra, the made-in-India Global compact hatchback, leads the sales figures with 1784 units in January 2011 as against 1057 nos. sold in December 2010. This is also the highest sales attained by Micra in single month, ever since it started sales in July, 2010. The company has so far sold 8225 units of Nissan Micra since sales began on July 15, 2010.

Out of the remaining, Nissan Teana, the luxury sedan (CBU) clocked 21 nos. in January 2011 as against 30 nos. in January 2010 and Nissan X-trail; the lifestyle SUV (CBU) registered sales of 52 units as against 10 nos. in January 2010.

Though FIGO and PUNTO are back to normal levels, it should be noted that they invoiced very few cars in December, which means the January sales number is the combined nos for december 2010 and january 2011 bookings.

If you take such a calculation the Figo nos are approximately (8616+2500)/2 = 5,558
Punto will be (130+1203)/2= 667

Guess Feb nos will give a clear picture.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

It is nice that we have started the analysis by the first day itself this month unlike in the past.
A notable feature is the decline in exports. Though domestic sales increased, exports by both the leader Hyundai and rival Maruti plummeted by 44% and 34% to 13010 and 9321 units respectively. The scrapping of Europe's scrappage scheme could be a major reason.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

In one day the post has gone 6 pages ! I guess one of the most awaited thread every month! And great to see that Aria clocking almost the same numbers as Yeti !! Looks like TATA has hit the bulls eye ! the numbers are pretty consistent and good for a 18+ lac car; that too from TATA! Something I never thought TATA would be able to do. With this I guess TATA's new Safari should be a world class product.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Thank you GTO for sharing the figures of Jan'11

IMO,a further increase in the nano figures might topple Hyundai from its second position in terms of total volumes. As the total Hyundai figures are 30306 while Tata's are at 30212. A small difference of 94 nos between the two company's.
A recent update about the nano's daily production - They have made a record by rolling out 456 vehicles in one shift on 31st Jan, a highest per shift roll out since the plants' inception which is very much near to the full capacity of one shift.

If they try to maintain this, or even lesser of around 400 per day, then Hyundai, be ready for the change in your position in the nos game.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

There was a report in todays TOI that Ford has reported a sales figure of 10026 for Figo. Whereas the figures posted in forum was 8616. Have Ford inflated the Figo figures. They are claiming that its a first for Ford to have a vehicle clocking 10K sales in a month.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

8616 + 1059 + 351 = 10026.

Hence 10026 seems to be the full Ford number.

Times of India is an entertainment publication in my opinion more than a newspaper. They might just print something which is not fully accurate i guess.

8616 shows that demand for Figo stays strong as ever.

*Update*

Nissan added to the opening post. Micra sales at highest ever, a substantial gain. Diesel effect? Obviously

Hyundai sales figures looks good. Maruti has its task cut out to introduce something for the year 2011. Currently it looks like Maruti should be content with holding the current sales figures instead of loosing more.

i10 Automatic is the best car that one can own in the City

Tata will surely be No. 2 from next month, IMO. Reason - Nano and Venture.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Gypsy has sold 191 units. Its a kinda lifestyle vehicle & has much more potential. Why Maruti is not bringing it with FIAT MJD 90 BHP? It will surely get many numbers. I am sure MSIL can sell at least 2000 vehicles with MJD per month. Many People don't buy Gypsy because it has not so good petrol engine. With MJD people will get very good option of good mini SUV, life style vehicle in 6-7 Lacs.

Maruti are you listening?

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

+1 for this Aniketi.
Infact, there are many people who stay away due to its low F.E. With MJD, even if it returns a 13 - 14kmpl, there would be a lot of buyers like me, who would opt for an all terrain vehicle for both Off roading ( With high mod potential and OTR capabiliites) and daily commuting( With Decent cruising comfort and speeds).
Ofcourse Thar is an option now a days, but M.A.S.S is what is turning down Thar, IMO.

The Fiestas dismal numbers seem to be the result of news circulating of a new Fiesta launching soon. I was myself told to avoid the fiesta by the dealer as the new Fiesta was coming soon.

true..

Even any from Maruti's modern petrol engines (K12 / VVT) with PS at least also increase sales.
