Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Some obesrvations:

City (5k) as usual back on the top due to VW Vento (2.3k) delivery issues.

Figo again proves it wasn't just a fluke after a modest 2.5k odd sales in December.

No Fiat figures as yet GTO?

Excellent GTO, keep it up!

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Good to see Figo& Nano numbers back on track. I expected atleast 1K numbers for ARIA, hope it reaches those number soon. Skoda numbers are impressive after all those negative feedbacks, they must be putting some real efforts to improve the condition.
Again City and Indica doing 5K+ and 10K+ respectively is a good show.

Maruti shows that nothing really matters for them 33K+ Alto, 14K+ WagonR and 20K+ Swift family wow, they are impressive numbers.

Waiting for FIAT numbers :-)

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Polo is doing amazing numbers! I guess now it will maintain 3000+ a month. What's with the Santa Fe? I thought over 1000 were booked in 1 week! But just 5 delivered?

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Well,Ford has hit the bulls eye with tte the Figo.Interesting to note that no ikon was sold last month.Ford might as well stop its production.

Impressive numbers for the swift as well.People dont want to wait for the new swift which is coming soon.

The cruze is selling decent numbers too.Interesting to note that more sparks are being sold than beats.

The Alto seems to be a non-tiring warhorse for maruti. It would be interesting to note how many k10's are being sold amongst them.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Pretty decent and 'as expected' figures except the leap back by Figo and continuing march of Nano.
FIAT is yet to be published? I am dying for it's figures!! Do not let me down GTO.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Looking at Tata's numbers - any idea of the split between Indica (sold to fleet/taxi owners) vs. Indica Vista (sold retail)?

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Interesting to reaad that 20 Beetles were sold in a month. Given its high asking price, I wonder whether there was some year end discount? Haven't seen previous months numbers.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

  • Cumulative Fiat's sales stand at 2174 units in January 2011.
  • Looks like those repeated snow white and desert storm ads for dzire have worked. Shocking figures for dzire-9771 units...outselling the ritz, estilo and a-star in numbers. Etios makes a decent start, manza remains flat.
  • Santro sales have gone down drastically and I10's have shot up. Looks like its the second best selling car in India. The upcoming HA 800 will be an interesting battle to watch against the alto. I have a gut feeling that the santro will be replaced.
  • Nano has risen again, aria is respectable at 300 odd considering the "20 lakh rupee tata" factor.
  • Hyundai has recd 550 odd santa fe bookings in the first week (that launch week) and most of the cars are on the roads. The next lot of shipment will come in march/ april.
  • Vento or no vento, city sales have again shot up and jazz's sales have again grown up. Figo's sales look to be all time high since launch. Perfectly blended compact car has worked for the masses.
  • But it remains to be seen how much the rise in petrol prices will affect the petrol car sales. Hyundai needs to reduce the 2-3 month wait on the i20 diesel.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

Cheverolet figures are just marginally up from Dec-2010. Need aggressive marketing and customer support in boosting the sales.

Cheers,

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

- Interesting to see sudden surge in sales of Civic, the sunroof effect ? . I think after a long time Civic has actually beaten Altis P sales ( 508 vs 490)

-More interesting are sales of CR-V , we had expected a dent after launch of BMW X-1. Awaiting BMW figures.

-SX4 figures have almost tripled compared to previous month sales.

-i10 you beauty!! it has sold almost 6000 nos more than previous month! Brilliant!

- Aria nos are quite surprising ! For the price tag and brand name ,its selling in decent nos. Kudos to Tata!!

-Cruze is still the segment leader in C+ premium sedan segment for diesel (?)! Though Altis D is catching up.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

It's sad to see a nice cars like the Aveo,U-VA, Optra, Jazz, the ever practical logan selling in small numbers while the far outdated Amby sells in 3 digit figures. The Chevys which have a lot of potential badly need their prices to be cut down, and refreshed a bit. I don't see why people prefer the Indigo over the Logan which is a better package IMO. Surprising to see the SX4 selling more than the Verna and the Verna in turn selling more than the Fiesta (considering I see very few new-gen SX4s and Vernas), the Beetle selling 20 units, and Fiat selling a total of just around 2000 cars :o !
