Re: 2010 Hyundai Sonata/i45 -*UPDATE* Indian Scoop pics Pg.9

Thank god the name is changed to I45. With GDI and CRDI, this car should sell in good numbers.

Re: *SCOOP* : New Hyundai Sonata / i45 caught testing on Bangalore-Chennai Road

Great catch, Synchromesh, thanks for sharing!

The car looks so much more substantial on our roads (compared to the int'l pictures). I love the looks of this Hyundai and yes, they'll definitely be getting rid of the cursed Sonata nameplate. I'm also willing to bet this car will do an "i20" in the feature list; loaded to the gill with bells & whistles.

Price it well and Hyundai might just get third time lucky. Just don't go the Santa Fe way.

Is the name i45 confirmed for India? I know that they have used the name i45 in some countries, and retained the name Sonata in some others.
If I am right, in the US this model has retained the Sonata badge.
Here in Singapore the name is i45, because the previous gen Sonata (current model in India) is synonymous with Comfort and Citycab taxis - to please the status-conscious crowd

FYI..
this new Sonata is #1 best seller in US, beating the likes of Accord and Camry.

Its packed with features and base model starts around $19k.

The i45 is called the Sonata in the middleast also. I have already seen a couple of new Sonata/i45 taxis here in UAE.

Excited to see the new Sonata here, and the GDIs. Looks very good. Hopefully Hyundai dont use the name Sonata - it would be a flop before it sells. I hope they use the magic i-series name which works.

Dude, look at that front grill and its oh so very City. Its just the fact and not a cliche. But then again, even City back is a lookalike of Beemer, so i guess there are no saints.

Personally I feel that i45 is one of the better looking design from Hyundai.
The Koreans (Hyundai and KIA) off-late are coming with some vibrant designs.

That is one awesome looking car, BTW i too have seen this one in Singapore a couple of years back, these are also synonymous for the comfort cabs in Singapore, amazing space, and this has an automatic too. great ride. Hope they launch it in India as i45, sonata reminds of that copy of the jaguar that was in India before.

Re: *SCOOP* : New Hyundai Sonata / i45 caught testing on Bangalore-Chennai Road

I am sure the i45 is a good catch, but my only issue as I see it is how Hyundai would like to price it.
With thier Santa Fe not being that much a successful, so it Verna meeting mediocre success.

I doubt if Hyundai would have it to cut the market above the 10L. Mind you these are different people with different needs.

So it all boils down to how they price it.

Re: *SCOOP* : New Hyundai Sonata / i45 caught testing on Bangalore-Chennai Road

I too saw the camouflaged car in the first pic in chennai today. This was at Maduravoyal (Sriperumbudur to Koyambedu road) at about 5PM today evening. I was alone on my bike and could not get any photos.
The driver saw me getting close while trying to take a peek at the interiors and sped away. My splendor was no match for the car :(

Re: *SCOOP* : New Hyundai Sonata / i45 caught testing on Bangalore-Chennai Road

nice to see the latest of hyundai being offered to the indian customer. times has come to move india with the world.

the last two and the current generation sonata has nothing in common when it comes to the shape!

the mix of jaguar rear and C class front was a wierd look of sonata when it was launched in india and then came the audi front and the accord rear!

the current fluid design of the hyundai is doing wonders all over the world, it all started with the sonata and the tucson.

im going on training with hyundai KSA, would bring some photos of any new models i see there.
