India's car exports slightly ahead of China!

Surprise news this morning on ET....India's car exports are allegedly slightly higher than that of China, a situation that wont continue for long as Chinese manufacturers start looking for newer markets after having served China's huge domestic appetite for motor vehicles.

India's exports for the calendar year 2005 reportedly stood at 172,552 slightly over the 160,000 e1xported by China.

While ET likes to show only the good news, what they dont say is that:

1. Over 50% of India's exports come from just one manufacturer.

2. The Chinese plan to export 450,000 cars next year, leaving us far far behind...

And that their local car market is SEVERAL times bigger than ours. Surprising because we were on par with them just a decade or two back.

Thats the price you pay for democracy!!!

Democracy of the kind in India(there are other democratic countries who've gone ahead) and many other factors : lack of political will and ponderous bureucracy.

But China seems to have gone far far ahead..Cars being only one of the things... Had been to Shanghai and Beijing in Dec last yr. Strangely, the ever increasing wealthy Chinese, have also started showing a propensity for bigger cars.

Yes,ET does highlight only the positives..I wonder why.

Indian exports

Guys keep in mind the fact that china started its economic policy in 1979..we started in 1991. Look where we have got in 14 years and where china is in 26. Let china export what it wants..we have to focus on our own people first!
