what's the point of the camouflage. The car's design is already out and it's is already in production in UK. There can't be any other vehicle but Evoque which looks like that.

Holly mother, what a car? Looks so aggressive, that will be the most beautiful car on its segment for sure.

Coz not every buyer / majority public are net savvy. The car should look fresh during launch and not like something that one has already seen on the roads.

Re: 2011 Range Rover Evoque To India!! SPOTTED - Pics on page 3

I have one word for all those looking forward to the Evoque. 'Localizaton'.

If Tata-Land Rover, can pull off the Evoque by localizing it and yet, retaining its quality, they've got a winner on their hands. Not only will the car retail cheaper in our market, quality wouldn't be compromised and one can expect a great looking, comfortable and an affordable SUV with the LR-RR badge.

Looking at those small wheels, Land Rover is definitely looking to spec it up the 'Indian' way!

Re: 2011 Range Rover Evoque To India!! SPOTTED - Pics on page 3

In Europe, the Evoque comes with 19/20 inch tyres and 55 profile tyres. That will certainly not work well in India, as both ride comfort and puncture resistance need to be better on our country's roads. Thus you can clearly see smaller wheels, and thicker tyres have been used on the Indian spec car.

As for localisation, that will all depend on how much volume of assembly here in India will be. If Land Rover plans to assembled in India vehicles elsewhere in Asia, Middle East etc then there should be enough volumes to start localising some parts to bring down costs.

As of now, the assembly plant in India is the only Land Rover plant outside of the UK. Only the Defender is assembled at a few other non-UK locations under licence by other companies.

Evoque is quite a looker but doesn't seem very practical. The rear tail glass is too small to be true. It will hamper visibility a lot. Also the overall glass area is very less. Nice wheels but the alloys go well. Should have been a 5 door for more practicality.

The 5 door version too will come to India. In fact most likely the 3-door one most probably will only come in the slightly sport "Dynamic" trim with the petrol engine. It will be a catchy thing for Bollywood to move around in.

As for the rear visibilty, rear view mirrors will be fine. Though you may be worried a bit about parking. Most the new LRs have parking sensors and rear view cameras. So it should not be a problem.

It has been discussed earlier in this thread that Evoque is going to be priced steeply, starting 55L onwards. I agree with all other attributes except the lower price thing. If it's indeed priced in similar range then i can't see it selling more than a handful....a Q7 or X5 seems better in the price bracket,my opinion though.

I would not get too excited with the car as i was most dissapointed getting the tentative price of the vehicle. The 3 dr would be a petrol engine while 4 other variants with the 5 door version. The price tentative for the car is in the 50 - 60 lakh bracket in Mumbai and i seriously hope the information is wrong. JLR would be making a big mistake on this vehicles front by priceing it againsts the bigger boys of the SUV fields and also its own Discovery that is in the similare price range.

Re: 2011 Range Rover Evoque To India!! SPOTTED - Pics on page 3

The price may be a bit steep, and will most likely come down a bit once local assembly starts.

But dont you worry, a little bit of publicity, and the Evoque will be selling a lot more than all the pseudo-SUVs from Audi or BMW. It has the x-factor which the Audi and BMW dont.

I will be surprised, if there isnt a clamouring for this car in India, just like there is in Europe. As it is, there is going to be a very limited number sold in India, due to the heavy international pre bookings causing massive waitlists.

This is not your standard SUV, its a statement of taste. That's why its specifications are not that important. Its most important thing, is how it looks, both inside and outside. And in those two departments, it has the BMWs and Audis licked.

. Pricing is very important in this competitive market else one won't get the required volume to be viable. LR should look at producing its range here with high localization instead of bringing in as CBUs. It has great advantage here in form of existing TM factories, though it should set up a separate high tech plant for LR. May be then we can have a 20L LR/Jaguar

Re: 2011 Range Rover Evoque To India!! SPOTTED - Pics on page 3

Honestly speaking even at 55L Ex-Showroom, the dynamic model is perfectly well priced and if you look up the UK price lists or anywhere else, this car is not exactly something one should compare to X1, Q3 which are just not even remotely close to this machine in terms of quality and style. Really check out the X1 before comparing it to this car, it has no appeal at all near this.

Also do look at dimensions, its an extremely wide car with the width at 77.4 Inch compared to 70 and 72 for the X1 and Q3 and in terms of height it's 65.6 Inch which is a little taller than the Q5 too which is again a league above the Q3/X1 whose heights are 63/60.4 Inch.

That should give one a better idea of on road presence it's a lot masculine,

Be it looks or quality or the capability of the vehicle the car is unmatched by any X1 / Q3 class of cars, and those who do not wish to spend more will always have the option of the lower end Pure variant, and initially the numbers maybe low, but once the CKD operations start this car will and should perhaps be at the top of its class in terms of setting a benchmark, numbers is not everything it's aspiration value itself will be a huge boost to the group.

Also I do believe even after the CKD operations begin expect this car to still be priced close to X3 and not X1, and it rightfully deserves to be there.

Regards,

P.S None of my comments are meant to offend any X1 / Q3 they are nice cars but only cars while the evoque does offer a lot better scope for going off road.
