Toyota showed the new Yaris sedan at the LA auto show. Here are some pics. Same 1.5 VVt engine but bigger and looks a lot cleaner than the old Echo sedan. But no sign of a diesel.
Hopefully this is the small car that TKML keeps talking about. This will easily take on the ZX and fiesta.

Hmmm... I see that the looks are inspired by the NHC.

I think TKML is planning to launch the small car in the premium hatch segment and is likely to bring in the Avanza (called as Xenia in some markets).
Why are all making cars like NHC ?
Dont people anymore like straight lines in a car like the Lancer or the OHC, Skyline.
I somehow dont like the semicircle shape in NHC, new Yaris.
The only semicircle I have liked most is the Audi TT coupe( looks only).

The shape of Swift sedan sukks.....
Not each and every car comes to the Indian shores. And if they come they are not on time.
I think we should say that ford fiesta is an ideal mid segment car available for sale right now.:)

Regarding the title of this thread, IMHO, its easy to be a Fiesta beater for any reasonably competent car. What is difficult, is being a NHC beater. But Toyota just might do it.
Its long time since Toyota finally launched the VIOS! In India, we get Asian cars more from Thailand, and Toyota Vios is launched there in 2004 or so, hopefully it should be here now. That i think will be the Fiesta thrasher!
Toyota has a surprise for us by March-May, I was told by an employee. I hope it's a 5-7 lakh car, and I hope they give us a diesel. I want an alternative to the Accent CRDi!!!
The car looks good and I think it will be in the OPTRA territory than the Fiestas.
The 5-7 lakh rupee car is probably a premium hatchback (IGO (thats how they pronounce it) or another one whose name I dont recollect). If they get the IGO it will give swift a run for its money for sure.
In the first pic (the light gray one) it almost looks like a copy-pasted NHC.

I 2nd that. But as much as I hate to admit it, its evolution. The way cars used to look in the 50s, the 60s, and so on. Things just change. And when we start to dislike new stuff, we're just getting old :(
