Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

i10 looks like the clear winner this month. Has the Auto tranny played a part in contributing to the huge number?
Maruti needs to launch the Swift2 ASAP, if they want to get back at the numero uno slot.

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

As usual MS figures are impressive, VW has gained considerably from previous months. Visibily too we can see them now more on roads!

Can somebody explian the dismal figures of Linea?

Cheers!

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Honda should be worried. The SX4 is already upto 35xx units and with a new diesel under the hood the sales are only going to get stronger.

Note from Moderator: Post Edited. Let's keep the discussion in thread limited to discussing sales numbers. No car bashing here Please.

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Overall a fruitful month for most manufacturers.
Swift Numbers Declining . Maybe The Market has news of the New swift and is holding out on buying the older gen?

i20 sales down a bit , Maybe the Etios eating up a bit of its sales?
good to see the micra do respectable numbers .
Nano seems to be doing decently.

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

SX4 numbers are with Diesel? Must be ... I guess Maruti kept few Thousands (2-3) of cars ready for the immediate delivery. That's why numbers are more than 3500. I guess in 2-3 months SX4 will start clocking 5K + sales every month with Diesel getting Lion's share. Maruti must be thinking that they should have launched it 1-2 years back only

I guess SX4 D will eat share of Dzire diesel top end as well as it has same engine with better characteristics, more space & great MANLY looks for around 1-1.5 Lacs more.

Am I the onlyone finding it funny that there is a Gap of just 10 car between Ford and GM, and just 15 cars between Toyota and Ford?

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Hyundai Santa Fe has sold decent numbers. Is it that the long waiting period of Toyota Fortuner is pushing people towards the Santa Fe? Is the Santa Fe available without a long waiting period?

If there was a BSIV Maruti 800, I wonder how many units of Nano would have sold?

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

It is little interesting to see the high end MUV sales...

Santa Fe : 126
Aria : 173
Yeti : 253

Skoda is selling more numbers than the Tata...

Good to see Nano sales touching 8,000 mark. Looks like media blitzkrieg that was started around December is doing its magic.

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Optra sales have increased, the number is meager (63), but I guess the recent price cut has done a little bit of a help here.

Additionally, with the pricing close to the Verna D now, Optra seems to be a more realistic option. It has got better interiors, got alloys, all 4 independent suspensions, all 4 discs and other loads of goodies.

I guess even the overall perspective of the Indian Buyers is slowly, very slowly moving away from the Japs.

God save us from Jap build quality.

Happy Motoring !!

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Logan selling 1000+ units . Renault guys must be going nuts looking at this figure. With Mahindra planning to rolling out compact version of Logan, the figures will surely move up.

Accent still selling 1000+ and Logan outselling Linea is shocking.

Linea deserves decent numbers.

Good to see at least Punto doing 1000+.

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Saying about Ritz, guess it has clocked slightly less sales this month, normally its in 6K + range but this time in 5.8K at a time when maruti came out with 'Live your moment' adverts for the same.
Ritz's sibling SX4 with 3.5k sales I guess is a record, been seeing it clocking around 2.6 - 2.8 k month on month. As many said may be due to diesel variants moving to showrooms?

Almost a decade old Accent and refreshed Verna selling almost same number. Hope Hyundai comes up with the new Verna soon.
Logan with 1.1K sales, why the sudden spurt?

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

The sales of the Honda Accord have perked up and those of the Skoda Superb are down considerably as compared to the previous month. It seems the new Accord with better features, etc, has found buyers once again. Lesson: Never rest on one's laurels. But will Honda be able to retain its new push as the Superb still continues to be the better car?

Good to see Indica and Nano numbers. Hope new turbomax Indica would add the numbers up and Nano improves steadily.

Re: February 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Santro : 8,070
i10 : 15,105
i20 : 6,834
Accent : 1,224
Verna : 1,241
Sonata : 29
Santa Fe : 126

Santro > i20???
Accent ~ Verna.

Hyundai better do something about their new Verna? Transform didn't seem to transform their fortunes at all. Quite sad and very interesting there are buyers for Accent even now. Is it the case of customers going to the showroom with the intention of buying a Verna and then settling for an Accent similar to SX4 and Dzire.
But SX4, for a change has done better this time. Not sure whether it can be attributed to their diesel since dealers haven't started rolling it out yet(AFAIK in Bangalore )

Checked last week with Bimal. They said they haven't delivered any vehicle, but has got good response in terms of booking.

If SX4 sales are of just petrol, then Honda recall must be the reason.
Should be the same for Vento too. Strangely Verna couldn't capitalize this opportunity. I thought Verna and Hyundai was always considered 1 notch above SX4 and Maruti.

Nice to see my favourite Fortuner ruling the segment

Best Regards,
