So after the CE, now we have a PE ! I guess this is aimed at improving mileage of the car. Anyone has more details?

No specific info in BMW India webiste as well.

Below is what is available on the web. 10 % increase in Power & torque, but have not mentioned the Mileage factor.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

Looks like BMW is learning a thing or two from Ford India. Slapping on a couple of exterior bits makes it an all new edition (in this case, performance!!!). At one time, I lost count of the number of Escort special eds.

The carbon bits are nice to have. Though, don't expect any real performance out of them

Not good value either; these carbon fiber bits and the 17 inch alloys (up from 16 inch on the Corporate ed) cost about 2.0 lakh rupees.

That website's information is incorrect. There is NO change in the engine & transmission.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

Indeed, it is just a body kit to make the car look different. It makes no difference in the power output of the car. I had posted pics of this ed in the 320 d thread somewhere, adding them here as well.

I guess this is an attempt to get rid of all the stocks of the 3 series. The next gen 3 series is due anytime this year i believe.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

The next 3 series f30, most probably wont be here till 2013. It is just a marketing gimmick and nothing else.

However the f10 520d has slightly more power from the same n47 engine.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

This has been discussed in andyb's thread. The so-called engine upgrade had happened quietly earlier itself, with power going up by about 7 bhp and torque figures up 30 nm. These are just cosmetic mods (as already clarified by Mav a few posts earlier). IMO, I like the carbon bits alright, and I LOVE the sleek spoiler, but those rims are just rubbish. I can't imagine taking those over ANY of the rims currently available on the E90 range, be it the CE or the 330i, or even the slightly iffy 320d Highline rims.

Also, I can't seem to think of any other colour than White, on which these upgrades will look any good. Maybe black, just maybe. Hard to notice, though.

So Mav, does this replace the CE or is it being sold parallel ?

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

I'm not too sure i like this one. Saw the same car in R mall yesterday in mumbai. The spoiler and the skirts look like aftermarket accessories.
It may look slightly better on black.

The alloys look really good though.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

Its not factory fitted, it is done once the customer orders it. The fitting is done on the standard 3 E90 on any of the versions.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

What is the difference between this and the ride of a college wannabe brat with decals and carbon fibre stickers all around? Giving option of a cosmetic upgrade is different and calling it performance edition is altogether different. So not cool BMW! And that too offering carbon fibre (something you would use to reduce weight further after you have already knocked off considerable weight from the possible areas, probably at stage 2) makes BMW look so desperate.

re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

BMW claims the addition of these carbon components improve performance by contributing to optimised weight, rigidity and driving dynamics .

What I think is the only reason this car will have improved performance compared to standard 320 d is by putting these asthetic bits its going to pump a lot of ego and adrenalin in the driver there by prompting he/she to drive faster and thus increasing the performance .
Nonetheless good asthetic bits. I hope they are carbon fibre and no FRP bits with Carbon fibre immitation

Re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

Performance Edition should have performance enhancement or ECU remap/Race switch (I am greedy) that would have been marked cool but this seems gimmickry.

Can someone post the interiors, does that get CF components on dash etc.?

I would have preferred a red lip on the bumper and diffuser with white/black car color, instead of CF.

The alloys most definitely should be matte black with red/yellow/green pinstripe.

Time to get working on my ANHC, I have some 3M CF sticker to test

Re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

The CF Parts look out of place on the White Bimmer ! Would look better on the Black Bimmer, but whats the whole point ?! I thought performance orientation means tweaking the engine to pump out more. Yet another gimmick I say, Well anyways does anyone known how much extra does one pay up for those extra CF addons ?

Re: BMW 320d Performance Edition

Ok. Now I can swear that i saw this posted on another thread. The same performance edition, but am unable to recollect which thread

Even there, all one could see was the mild visual mods and what struck me as odd at that time was, with no engine mods, why were they calling it a performance edition

Ridiculous.
