As far as I can gather, it is the SX4. I do not know whether it is rechristened as Escudo.

the talks broke down for daewoo noida plant. So Spark seems distant dream as with current plants they can produce just the aveo. Maybe at a later stage

gosh- at 24 lacs, the fortuner doesn't seem like it offers a lot of bang for the buck..might as well lust after the pajero 2.8 CRZ euro-III, which is priced at around 18L on-road; but first, let's hope toyota launches the fortuner- the fortuner would go that high only if it was brought in as a CBU; toyota had announced MUCH earlier that the fortuner was going to be built here, so perhaps we can expect the pricing to be in-line with the tucsons and endeavours...

as for the accord; my dad, veyron2, isn't in much favour with the car (i seriously doubt it's got more to do with the price, than it's looks). the new vitara:ermm...

my personal faves, touted to be THE hottest launches of 2006: fortuner, civic, fabia and the new camry...

Well the Honda Civic seems to me to be the Best Car bet for 2006. However the indian variation will come with some minor changes. The headlamp design has been increased for india, something to do with the fog and smog here. Also the rear lights have also been made a bit rounder more like the current Toyota Corrolla's .
The indian version will have more sedate looks according to what i can see in autocar india. The us version is more sportier though. The interior (thank god) seems to be the same....for now!!

But definately a car to watch out for:-

The interiors

Agree, the USP of the Fortuner was that it would come relatively cheap since it shared the same platform as the Innova. 24 lacs would be way over, irrespective of quality or equipment levels. May as well go for the Nissan X trail at that price

mite, if we keep seeing VFM, u will never be able to buy a car in india! or say, hardly a car or two! all these luxury cars, none of them are VFM! its just the price u have to pay for luxury, and when it comes to Luxury, there is no "Value for Money" factor.

guyz, the SUZUKI SX4 and the Escudo are the same thing. Fiat is tying up with Suzuki to sell its Escudo as FIAT ESCUDO too. and Suzuki has launched the SX4/Escudo in Japan by the name of Escudo.

The new Vitara is much better looking than the Fortuner. I hope they launch it here with a V6 under the hood.

It indeed does come with a V6 as of today. 2.7L was the fastest, till Honda removed the 2.4IVtec manual CR-V.
