Good news there !

But i was thinking if they would also revive Palio D ? This would bring some serious competition with indica..

Oh no. They wont. They may re-engineer the existing Indica diesels though.

IMO Tatas are looking at options at bettering their diesel stable, no doubts there. However they are in no undue hurry. The reason is that although Maruti will come out with their own diesel range by this year end the pricing will not be much of a headache for the Tatas.

Swift diesel will definitely be priced higher than the Petrol versions. That will mean Swift will take on the Indigo on the pricing front. So the volume car Indica only has to bother with the WagonR. Now, to make a diesel version of the WagonR a lot of strengthening will need to be done to make it handle properly. Moreover the diesel has to anyhow cost higher than the Petrol. Moreover since the technology is from Fiat the royalty payments will also be involved. Now considering that the Petrol WagonR costs close to 4L I do not think the diesel version will be that cheap either...

Now, this is all conjecture at this stage, but one that looks pretty possible. But then who knows...

Punto Grande is one good looking car. Anyways, something is going on. Maybe in a matter of few more hours, we might get more details.
