I agree. The front and interiors look plain Jane. Back is still ok. But if ideally priced in the Dzire/Manza range it should sure be a worth.

Any idea on how soon its coming?

The car look pretty big to be competing against Etios/Dezire, may be they will bring it down to compete against SX4/Vento etc.

Funny how much a "chinese" tag changes perceptions so fast.

If you put any other badge on its front we would have a very different viewpoint of this car. That is some terrible reputation the chinese have got and i am proud indian products are not looked upon in that way.

Other than that i must say it is quite a fresh design, boldness in the nice and has a nice chiselled look to it.Most car makers are going for a "fluidic" design language but this is a nice change.

Instrument cluster looks exactly like the Figo.

The car looks very good. If only it was a "Proper GM" and not Baojun, it would find a lot more takers. I am not sure how many of us would put in 6L on a Chinese car? Though GM should have already brought it up to mark before it puts its stamp on it. Still ..I would be hesitant to but it.

I don't understand why people keep cribbing about the Chinese connection. If ever the car is being launched in India, then it will be built at the GM plant by GM's Indian employees using the metal they source from India. They might even plonk a GM engine into it, so now it becomes a proper GM car which is made in India. Also please understand that this car was developed by SAIC with inputs from GM and I don't think any manufacturer will take any unwarranted risks which will put their reputation at stake.

My gut feeling is that, this is a "scoop" for the sake of a "scoop:. I don't think GM has any intentions of launching this car. It's based on an old platform and is meant to be a really cheap, basic sedan.

Plus, the last thing that GM India needs is another bland sedan. Nothing was really wrong with the Aveo; problem was, nothing really stood out either. It just sorta faded away in the background.

I would personally prefer the Sonic. But we are going OT here. Mods, you may want to lock the thread, as the vehicle is not coming to our shores.

What mark? Isn't GM India itself Chinese owned (majority stake)?

Upto GM's high quality mark. SAIC quality standards may not be as high, nor will it be perceived as reliable by majority (there are always exceptions) in India. Without GM name and brand equity, nobody will buy it

As far as I know GM India is a 50-50 JV. That is not majority stake. And yes, no vehicle from SAIC stable has hit our shores yet, its all GM as of now. JV is equity only so far, though they have plans for cheaper cars later on.

A nice looking mandarin Accord. I think it is fit enough as an Optra replacement rather than the segment pointed out. Nice looking car.

Re: *Rumour* : GM to introduce the Baojun 630 sedan in India

It's a nice looking car, especially compared to that monstrosity the Dzire and the utterly weird looking Etios.

Problem is GM in India ends up making nice-enough-looking cars without offering anything solid as a value proposition. So while the Spark, Captiva, Cruze etc. are popular in pockets, overall I for one would ever seriously consider a GM product.

I think they need to do some serious corporate advertising here.
