Himanshu, yeah its a better car than most give it credit for :-)
Also the "Tatas should stick to diesel...blah blah" thing iis getting tedious!

if you call a indica petrol sluggish ,what would you call the palio1.2 (the roll on times are worse than most diesels) and the alto,we cant compare a car selling at 3.** lakhs to be a scorcher and outperform a 100bhp car,70bhp for this segment is more than enough.

I will be going for a TD on Friday. Since this is going to be my first car, can someone give tips on what items to look for, what pitfalls to avoid, etc?

The dealer has flatly refused to give any discount/deal since the car is low priced, but I can haggle over finance options right? Some tips here can be helpful.
