s2000,contessa,ambassador,padmini,118ne,Old Austin models,Morris models or any other classic.

The main thing is who will bell the cat???

I am still some months away from starting my project on the contessa. Its been long in the making.

who else is serious about this IDea?

IT would be fun seeing Skoda RS,SOnata,Mondeo, Lancer,CIty,Baleno and palio drivers dissapointed by being beaten from an old car.LOL

The standard 2000 had an awful 4 speed locally designed transmission and had an outdated Vanguard engine which made its debut in 1948, had twin carbs. The engine capacity was 1991 c with 83bhp@4250 rpm and weighed around 1335kg's if I am not mistaken.

Not much info about the standard2000. but I am sure the engine bay in the contessa nad fiat models is big enough to take a bigger engine.

but a used contessa in the best condition with

PU seats (I dunno what it is but HM has it marketed a lot on the website)
A/c
Powersteering
Power windows
central locking
1.8 isuzu 75hp petrol
twin headlight which really give the contessa a muscle car charm.

the price that the guy at HM quoted was 30-50K and I found a diesel when I was on the project from 35K negotiable.

they also had it up on their HM Ambassador website but it has been taken off now.

was just wondering how the HM Avigo would do with a flat-6 or a 8-cyl small block.

I am sure its been discontinued with the tata cars taking HM contessa's place.

I am mulling on 3 projects.

modify a petrol indigo (ok now its here because its an Indian car)
modify a contessa 1.8
modify a lancer 1.5/1.8

this is what people call "spoilt for choice"

Honestly, I am thinking on this one very seriously.

The last time I was about to start the project, I landed in Toronto. All the research was done except for a new engine(I was mulling on modification of the same Izusu engine)

I hope I get it done this time around.

even the total cost came to a modest 2.0 lacs with the car.

My only confusion is that I have not seen any such muscle car turned contessas around.

karizma_devil, these days 35 - 50K for a Conti is a lot of money. 25 - 35K is more appropriate. Remember, the car has been discontinued.

Ya Buddy, Aditya is right. For the best maintained contessa you should not give out more than 35. This price includes

a powerful a/c
power windows
Central locking
Power steering &
big 1.8L Isuzu engine

I asked for a contessa at the HM dealership itself so the price is 100% right.

let me know if you need more info.

Buddy,

If ur thinking about a contessa... u have got to realise that ur taking something that will demand a lot of loving care and attention... It will be a totally different ownership experience when compared to ur esteem.

If u do go in for it, it'll be great having another contessa owner around!!!
