Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

31 lacs?
they must be nuts
Minimum 6 speed AT would be "hygiene"

But in this market of markets I am pretty sure that anything Toyota will fly.
This might become the final nail in the coffin for the stupid CRV anyways because the pricing is very close for that silly vehicle.

Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

At that price Toyota would go the Kizashi and CRV way. I do not think any manufacturer would commit harakiri by reducing volumes of a successful product, unless they are loosing money on it.

My take is that they will introduce a premium priced product to satisfy the latent demand at this price point, after all there are all sorts of buyers, and who knows, they may lap up the 31L Fortuner, though not in the numbers it is selling today.

Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

31 lacs OTR is going to make the CR-V look cheap which it never was. Can understand a 1.5-2L increase in pricing from MT to AT but 31L is ridiculous if the news is correct. Lets hope Toyota does not surprise us like they did when Altis Diesel prices were announced.

And they say that Honda overprice their cars.

I think Toyota are not happy with success of the car which is selling in good numbers, they are planning strategies to bring the sales numbers down. People will start believing that Honda CRV is a value for money car.

Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

Confirmed the tentative pricing once again and my source says he is absolutely positive of the on-road pricing (Mumbai) to hover around 31 lakhs if Toyota goes ahead with their current plans.

He did add though that if Toyota decides to localize their content further in terms of their engine and transmission it is possible we might see a sub 30 Lakh OTR pricing for the fully loaded Fortuner automatic, all thanks to the higher duties charged for the CKD kits which has risen from 10% to 30% now.

Seems like the Endeavour is poised to be the most VFM SUV in the segment now, because the price of the M/T model is slated to be increased too, with the Gen. 2 Fortuner.

I hope he is wrong, seriously wrong!!

Isn't that approx 10L more (or almost 50%) than the existing price? What the hell are they thinking? Honda's learnt a lesson with Jazz. Toyota will learn it too, sooner than later it this news is correct.

Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

31 Lakhs ?? that too for a 4 speed AT???? I mean even the current on-road price is at a 100% premium. at 31lakhs we are talking about 200% premium, that too for a archaic 4 speed AT and no rear disc brakes.
Whatever the price, it will sell, because most Indians are infatuated with toyota badge, for god knows what reason. I mean a even now a Captiva AWD A/T(5 speed) has an ex-showroom price less than that of fortuner, and still everyone prefers fortuner. Ok, I know that fortuner is great for hardcore off-roading but less than 2% of the people who buy these might be doing hardcore off-roading.

31 lakhs OTR mumbai for a fully loaded automatic is fine as long as toyota continue to have lesser equipped models in its lineup at lesser price bands.

We all know how successful the fortuner is at the moment and due to the massive waiting list a price rise was all expected. Current Mumbai OTR according to Autocar mag is Rs 23.5 lakhs.

The features coming in the new top model fortuner :

-LED Tail Lights
-New Front Grille
-Xenon Head Lamps
-Sunroof
-New Head Unit for the ICE with IPOD support
-Ambient Lighting in the cabin
-Minor Tweaks on the suspension for a better ride
-4 Speed Auto Transmission
-Rain Sensing Wipers

Of the above luxuries i guess the base fortuner will not have the following:

-Sunroof
-New Head Unit for the ICE with IPOD support
-Ambient Lighting in the cabin
-4 Speed Auto Transmission
-Rain Sensing Wipers

With the items omitted, my personal opinion is that the new face lifted fortuner with manual transmission will cost about 1L-1.5L above current price.

So
Toyota fortuner M/T OTR Mumbai Rs 25L-25.50L Diesel (estimate)
Nissan X-Trail OTR Mumbai Rs 27L Diesel
Mitsubishi Outlander OTR Mumbai Rs 23.50L Petrol
Honda CRV 4x4 M/T OTR Mumbai Rs 29.96L petrol
BMW X1 2wd OTR Mumbai Rs 28L Diesel

The fortuner still looks attractive to someone who wants a capable 4x4 irrespective of whether he will use it or not.

Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

Guys, i feel there is no point speculating on the price until it's released by Toyota.

A variant with AT will be a good addition. For me the current Ride and Handling balance is fine for a Chassis based SUV, tweaking it further may spoil the Handling.

Re: Toyota Fortuner facelift with Automatic rumored to arrive later this year

Though speculative the pricing with the AT Fort could actually pan out close to 30L especially with sunroof, xenons, rain sensors etc.

This will sadly let the new Endeavours (AT, MT) also price themselves a bit higher when they do land.

Already the Innova V lands close to 14.5L and the Fortuner is between 23-24L OTR mumbai, so with some revision a 1-1.5L price rise cannot be ruled out add about 2L for the AT, and some more for the newer feature one is close to 30L and the Endy AT and the Aria do look oh so VFM.

The current fortuner is priced at 20 lakhs. If one gets the upgrades listed above (including the 4 speed automatic) they would be much less than 11 lakhs and this includes the price of flying to Thailand to get the parts five times over. Does not make sense to me at all but then at the same time you have people out there who will buy and even wait list the upgraded model.
