Infiniti , the luxury brand of Nissan , is going to enter India . But Nissan won't be selling it through it's dealership . Instead they are in talks with , the ' talk of the town ' luxury retailer , the SHREYANS . News courtesy Hormadz Sorabji .
BTW , it will be interesting to see if Toyota follows the suit and brings the Lexus !

Nissan India's current offering Taena is already occupying a position where ideally, Infiniti should play. I wonder where they are going to position Infinity then.

Infiniti is not that popular in India, it would be difficult to get a foothold unless if they make a huge VFM sense, Remember things are not like what it was when Hyundai entry was..
Rather than the brands like Infinity I would prefer the cheap Chinese car makers to enter India. They are going ages ahead in terms of quality and also thier cars are cheap. That would appeal a lot to the Indian VFM seeking customers.

How does Infiniti fare in terms of reliability world over? Assuming it to be good as most japs, it could very well provide a reliable option to people fed up with their Mercs/BMWs.

Acura is Honda's sister brand in the US. Some JDM Hondas are re-badged as Acuras and sold in the US. Acura isn't a 'luxury-brand', as such. They sell pretty much the same cars that Honda sells in other markets.

Although, it is widely known as Honda's luxury arm.

Infiniti and Lexus are a few notches higher, I'd say.

Actually Infiniti and Acura are quite different from Lexus. Infiniti and Acura are more sporty than luxurious while lexus is more luxurious smooth and refined compared to infinit and Acura. Except the IS-F ofcourse.

Although Acura does sell the USA spec TSX rebadged as the Accord in some European markets all of it's other cars such as the TL, RL etc are exclusively sold under the Acura banner and have quite superior engines and performance compared to their Honda cousins.

From a brand perspective Lexus demands a higher premium than both Infiniti and Acura IMO.

Only the TSX (Euro Accord) and RL (Legend) are rebadged hondas in Acura lineup, although in canada they sell a rebadged Civic. The same can be said for Infiniti too as their G37 is sold as Skyline coupe and M37 as Fuga elsewhere.

But Acura is not considered at the same level as Lexus and Infiniti when luxury badge is considered in US. Acura is more of a "economy/entry level" luxury brand.

You're forgetting The RSX and the NSX. Both were Hondas and were badged Acuras. Not to mention the Acura Integra which was a popular Honda in the '90s. The 3-row Acura MDX was based on the 7-seater Honda Odyssey.

The Infiniti G35 is based on the Nissan 350Z.

Although Lexus is more into luxury and is considered more premium that acura and Infiniti, the latter makes exciting and sporty cars unlike the boring lexus. I have driven some infiniti models and they are really driver oriented. I never got a chance to drive Acura, so dont know how that compares with infiniti.

YAAHHOO!!!!!!, the Japanese BMW going to be launched in India, can't wait for Lexus to follow suit.
Anyway Infiniti is more prepared than Lexus as it has V6 diesel engine in the M,EX and FX, unlike Lexus which only has diesel in the IS.
Also they could plonk the V8 diesel from the Patrol into the obscenely loveable QX.
But diesel in the G have to wait till next gen.

Most probably they will launch the G25 along with EX in near future.. maybe G37 in the mix too (?)
