If done right, they help maintain the lower pressure created under the car by the front airdam (by reducing the amount of air rushing in from the sides). Resulting in better aerodynamics / road holding / "vaccuum effect" below the car.

WOW !

Stratos you are 1 lucky guy indeed !

Excellent - while you were busy burning rubber, here people are burning up with envy !

Seriously an great opportunity put to good use by you too.

The special Polo's look really slick and smart.

How did you find it? Lighter - ofcourse, but what changes did you make - consciously - in the 2nd race after the experience of the 1st one?
What things did you keep in my mind while trying to adapt?

Wishing you all the best for many more to come !

Thanks for the lovely pics, some very nice shots there.
And, indeed - hats off to those mechanics there.

P.S. What happens to the damaged Polo's - the door metal twisted, the rims chipped? They repair it? Sell it off? Who pays for THOSE damages? Driver or VW?

Do they race with diesel or petrol engines?

@ Saty - 1.6L Diesels 130PS !

@Dr.Suraj - If the polo is damaged beyond repair it is scrapped, if there are small dents and stuff, it is repaired ! and about the rims, they are checked on the alignment machine after which if found bent are scrapped. chipped rims are scrapped.

the driver pays for the damage on his car, even if some other driver hits you, you pay for the damage on your car and he on his !

VW said we would get a factory tour if we wanted so that we could come there and torch our damaged parts ! i.e if we feel the parts aren't being scrapped !

Thanks for the lovely info.
So did you go to the Factory?

That is Neat & Super cool !

No doubt you had a great time - with such powerful oil burner units and so much of weight shed - its a pint sized rocket on wheels !

Definitely !

It is after all in your best interests to do so.
Professionally and personally.

Will look forward to your post about the visit to the factory soon!

It really intrigues me to know - what would be the prime differences between a Toyota Factory and a VW factory.

Japanese v/s German.

Two of the finest, most organized, meticulous & dedicated works-men worldwide.

We all saw some pics of the toyota plant in the Liva review thread.
& I have a patient who supplies the paint to the Toyota plant down south - he had told me about the Liva & Etios 6 months ago.
He has very meticulously explained the intricate painting methods employed by the Japs!

Lets see what the Germans do (with their 6 year paint warranty & all).

All the best.

Re: My Experience - Racing in the 2011 VW Polo R Cup!

So I drive a 1.6 Polo now and I love the way the R-Cup Polos look. Can anyone please tell me where I'd be able to get the body kit that they use on the R-cup Polos?

Re: My Experience - Racing in the 2011 VW Polo R Cup!

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but what is the selection criteria?
Is it open to owners of Polo or open to all?

Edited :
Ignore. Got the answer here :
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ia-2011-a.html

Strange, no options for 24+!
