And one more thing, not all supercar owners get together with racers/tuners...It's hardly only the 10% of the owners. But are definitely race enthusiasts, I can tell you that.
FMSCI is the apex body for all motorsport in India. If they do not keep track of the FMSCI calender, most people would not call them race enthusiasts.

If they do not get together with other racers/tuners - who do they race with? You are making them sound more like poseurs rather than petrol-heads or motorsport enthusiasts.

May his soul Rest in peace.

Just for the record - he was not a participant in the drag race and the incident is in no way related to the drag races.

Cheers,

Oh, a lot of idiots decided to use the Drag meet as an excuse to show off and were doing, or rather trying to do stunts and other stupid things on a section of the unused ORR near the venue.

Guys on bikes (can hardly call them bikers) were trying wheelies, slides, stoppies, riding while facing backwards, riding with hands off the handles etc. Guys in cars were trying slides, launches, donuts, etc. It was all in a section of road that was not a part of the venue. Another car hit someone in a nearby village. None of the competitors were involved in any of these incidents.

Cheers,

Re: The FMSCI Indian Drag Racing Championship 2011

The whole incident happened so soon, that we had no time to understand what went wrong. It was only after a couple of seconds that it dawned onto us what exactly could have taken place there. The Red Skoda Octavia driving into the "Stunt Arena of the Moronic Bikers" and then a small commotion followed by Ambulance. It all happened so soon. May his soul rest in peace.

INDRC 2011 - round 2 Coimbatore

Thanks GTO for reminding us about this thread.

Yes, this weekend is dragway day. Drag-racers from Hyderabad including Team Tunerz and Team Mars have set out or are setting out today to get to CBE in time. Vasu, Keshav and most probably Madhu from Bangalore will be in CBE too for this leg of the INDRC. Nothing needs to be said about the cars from Coimbatore - they are always excellent.

It promises to be an interesting weekend.

Cheers,
