Congrats man! Good show there. How long was the ride?

Also, after watching the video, I have a question for you. This gentleman in the video can be seen using the hand-brake every now and then. Why? Aren't the standard brakes enough for braking or is it because its a dirt track, you need extra braking support?

That's Rally car driving mate , The hand brake helps you to slide the rear accurately and set it up for a corner , gives you a super time if done correctly , but could really mess up your lap if you go wrong.

By the way the gentleman driving is Mr Raj kapoor , a senior rally driver who has participated in the original Himalayan Rally and is one of the senior functionaries of northern motorsport.

That's a typical rally style tarmac.
Only problem is racing stock daily use cars will make them "rattle boxes", especially Marutis.
Hyundai has an edge over Maruti on that.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Autocross at Autocar Performance Show. EDIT: Video, Pics & Report a

Guys -The guy driving the car in the test run is Mr Raj Kapoor and i've seen him driving in his swift in a demo run in autocross 2010 and the view was a dream. There was not even a single wrong move in the entire track and being a participant and viewer i was amazed to see how one can drive a car like that , i'm sure inside the swift was what was happening what we all saw in this video on page 1 of the thread.

I'm really looking forward for the 2011 event as it has a lot of hype and lot of enthusiasts coming in for the event. I'm looking forward to have a podium finish this time however would bow to the competitors who make it there.

Thanks to Northern motorsports for oraganising an event like this to bring the enthusiast out in guys like me and others.

Here are few pictures that i would like to share from my participation in 2010.

Are cars from other companies allowed in this? All the pics are Maruti Suzuki vehicles which suggests that this is only for Maruti Cars. But in the results there is a Matiz. So, in these results how come a Matiz is there in the Open Amateur Modified category in a Maruti Autocross show?

Yes, Cars outside the Maruti family were allowed in the Open Category, although the event was dominated by Maruti cars, a handful of Honda cars made a cameo appearance, one Ford Fusion, one Matiz and a Lancer were also seen!

Is the Alto in the picture yours? Looks cool
I also see a FFE. Were all these mods done for autocross or its your daily ride?

I totally agree with you on that Mac. Nothing that risks the paint. But the fun of rallying makes one do anything I guess

Re: Maruti Suzuki Autocross at Autocar Performance Show. EDIT: Video, Pics & Report a

All makes of cars are allowed in MarutiSuzuki AutoCross in OPEN category. This makes for more intense and interesting competition. There was one Toyota Innova and a Force Gurkha that also made appearance on track on Saturday for qualifiers.

You can waive of putting of most of the stickers - but the three/four number ones - by paying enhanced entry fee. Sponsorship stickers help raise money for conducting the event. Many participants who may be personally sponsored by competing brands routinely do this.

Yes that's my alto in the pic ( you should have guessed it from my signature ). The FFE has been there since about 4 years now as i like to live it up like that everyday.

The paint does take some beating depending on the way you paste the stickers but trust me it's worth it .
