Etios Motor Racing Launch at Kalamassery Nippon Toyota, Cochin

Yesterday, I got a call from my service advisor in Nippon Toyota, Kalamassery ( Cochin ) that there will be EMR launch event in Cochin. I was thrilled to see the racing version of the Etios and went there at 11:00 am today.

There was one blunder from my side as well.
The manager of PR - Miss. Miriam Macwana told me that she knows Rush of team-bhp. I asked "Who is that?".
She said - "He is one of the main persons behind team-bhp, don't you know him?"
I replied that that's GTO and not Rush. Then, I searched for Rush on team-bhp and understood that GTO and Rush are the same!

Here are some photos from the event.

Love those designs. Completely transformed the otherwise boring looks of the Etios.

They have a T-Shirt, sipper, Mug and bottle with Toyota emblem on one side and EMR emblem on the other side. I was told that they might start the merchandise from afternoon on.

True. I asked about the possibility of sourcing those kits. They told that it's not possible as of now. But, custom modders can surely take inspiration from those cars. It shouldn't cost too much to convert the stock white colour Etios into something like that. A few stickers, skirting, bumber, spoiler and the car will look very similar to this version.

The RC car thing interested me and thought I will attend the Chennai event this week. That RC is a toy and is not worth visiting.

Moreover dont think this will be any fun unless you are an Etios fan. Race cars and production cars are poles apart.

Well not really. The entry fees are a lot less than what vw charges for the polo cup. Karthikeya singhee of autocar tweeted

#Toyota EMR race seat- 1.75L. That provides complete gear including OMP helmets, HANS, & fireproof overalls! Apart from a years racing!!

I believe the polo cup is 8 to 10 lakhs.

I dont know how different the cars are but perhaps a race prepped etios vs a polo would make things interesting.

Re: Etios Motor Racing Launch at Kalamassery Nippon Toyota, Cochin

I saw the EMR race 3 this Sunday. If I may say so, the series doesn't seem to be as electrifying as the Polo cup. Polo cup does throw up dollops of action. Their seems to be just too much difference in the level of skill of different drivers. This causes tohe field to spread out too much, thus making for a boring race.!
