Didn't see a thread on TeamBHP about this so here it is!

BIC is now renting track spec VW Polo cars for playing on the track.

Treat your appetite for adrenaline by driving one of the amazing Volkswagen Polo race cars at the world-famous Buddh International Circuit. Get your friends along with you and go head to head with them at BIC to test and hone your driving skills in this small yet incredible car!

The racing polo has been stripped from inside of all its creature comforts, seats removed and replaced with lightweight bucket seats and motorsport spec roll cage to give you the feel of a real race car.

VW Polo race car specifications
1.6 ltr TDI engine, modified to 130 HP
6 speed + 1 reverse manual transmission
Sachs racing suspension
Internal roll cage
OMP racing seat with 6 point racing harness

Before jumping into the driver's seat, you'll receive a technical briefing from our instructor about the car and the track. You can then buckle up and hit the track.

Called them today asking for the prices.

Cost:
5 Laps: Rs. 5,000
30 Mins: Rs. 12,000
1 Hour: Rs. 15,000

Not a bad pricing structure I would say!

Want more laps? Go there any bargain yourself :P

P.S. I am no way affiliated with BIC or VW. Just another petrol head like you :3

Note: If anyone plans on going there, please PM me before hand. I live very close to BIC and have similar plans. Would be awesome if we go in a group maybe.

Thanks and Regards

That's a great move by VW and BIC , not bad pricing too .
You don't have to worry about anything and drive a fully preped car and have safe fun .
Thanks for the info !

I think these are last years diesel race cars.

Exactly what I was thinking. They have switched to 1.4 TSI's for this year. They wouldn't risk the current Race Cars with anyone. Besides it would make make sence to scrap last years cars, so why not make some money out of them.

I guess, this would be only one person per plate, no sharing allowed.

Quite tempting. After having seen heating (read burning) brakes, overheating engines and tyre wear at first open track day, I was quite scared to take my car out on the track again... Driving a race prepped car on the track without those worries sounds good to me!
But isnt it too hot right now to be driving these cars on the track?

They do not allow driver swap but you can always have a co-driver in the passenger seat.

Thanks and Regards

Sounds great and the pricing seems to be decently ok.
Would be nice to have this track day concept in Maharashtra:(
Was planing to do my architecture thesis on this topic of developing a
motor-sports complex in MH.

Look who\'s here?

Did 8 laps of the track in this car on Saturday. Definitely something which should be on your list of 'Things to do before you die'.

The cars come with Race suspension, wide+low profile tyres, upgraded brakes(all 4 discs) and are stripped out to the core. They are extremely noisy (and vibey during idle) but all the noise and vibes drown themselves out when going flat-out on the track.

How was the experience? Do they track your lap timings?

Experience was amazing, this was the first time I was anywhere near an actual racetrack. It was hot as hell (for a semi-hill-station fellow like me) but it was worth the trip. The only underwhelming thing about the entire drive was the power. It could have done with more POWERRRR!! Given the dimensions of the track, it was very hard to get the *sense of speed*, if you know what I mean. The highest I did was 180 on the back straight (Between T3 and T4) but the car could have definitely done with more power, I mean it took almost 1/2 a km to reach 180 from 170. Even at that speed, the improved brakes and tyres meant there was plenty of grip all-round as long as you braked in a straight line. Cars would spin themselves though if you braked with the steering wheel turned.

One of the cars in our group actually spun twice and I was nearby to witness firsthand how that happens on both occasions. If you brake too late into the corner, you either spin off (from braking too hard) or end up in the gravel trap (damaging the car's bumper/skirting).

Anyways, nobody was keeping time. This was not a time trial or a race. If found racing, we had a strict warning that all of us would be red-flagged. I was in fact so wary of the rules that I purposely backed off in the straights so I could do my corners properly from apex to apex without getting too close to the about-to-spin car in front :p .

This was part of an event arranged by *the other BHP* but since we don't discuss cars over there, I am posting here. :D
