National Racing Championship Weekend at the BIC

Link to News Section

The National Racing Championship Weekend has hit the Buddh International Circuit in a big way. The Formula 1 circuit, known primarily for hosting F1 races, launch events for high performance cars and the Mercedes AMG Racing Academy, apart from the handful of track days, will now play host to a range of motorsport events, many of which form a part of the National Racing Calendar.

These events being held at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), over a span of a single weekend (September 14th & 15th) will give motorsport fans in the northern parts of India a chance to witness motorcycle racing, single seater racing and sportscar racing at a single venue. Based on the feedback that the debut event receives, the National Racing Championship Weekend could become a regular affair at the Buddh International Circuit.

Over 160 participants will battle it out for top honours across events such as motorcycle, single seater and sports car racing. The foreign manufacturers will be represented by Toyota, Honda and Yamaha while the homegrown motorsport teams of MRF Tyres and TVS Racing will conduct their own racing series.

Toyota, Yamaha and Honda will conduct one-make races. The Etios Motor Racing event, R15 championship and the Honda CBR250R championship are three such racing events that will be held at the BIC over the weekend. TVS Motors will conduct Apache RTR 180 races while MRF will conduct the MRF 1600 single seater races.

Since the BIC's inauguration in 2011, this is the first time that motorcycle racing events are being organized there. Apart from manufacturer supported events, the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India will conduct Group C motorcycle (up to 165 cc) races of the National Racing Championship. Racing legs of the Indian Touring Cars and Indian Junior Touring Cars championships will also be held over the weekend.
