Vicky Chandhok not to stand for re-election as FMSCI President

President of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, Vicky Chandhok has announced that he will not seek re-election for another term. Chandhok has been at the helm of the association for seven out of the last nine years. His first term was a three-year stint from 2005 to 2007 and the second one lasted for four years from 2009 to 2013.
Vicky Chandhok played a big role in building relations with the FIA and FIM. It was during his term as president that India hosted its first Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Asia Road Racing Championships for Bikes was another international event made an appearance in India.

This is indeed strange. Has he given any reason for such a decision? Is he making way for a successor?

A person who has done tremendous work to strengthen this almost neglected area in India does deserve a salute and I am sure his successor will have to work all the more to bring new innovations in the Motor sports Club.

From what I hear Meco Motorsports chief Akbar Ebrahim will be taking over!
