I was watching cnbc tv18 2day........... there was a news saying that jk tyre the offical sponsors of the motorsports in india have had a pact with maruti, hyundai and GM. These 3 companys will provide 15 engines each for each season MUL will provied 1300cc swift engine , hyundai will give its 1.5 accent engine and GM will give its 1.6 engine.

i dont have full details but tooked the opportunity to start a thread so that felllow bhpns can add on their views......

It is great news for Indian motorsport, drivers now have something to look forward to once they excel in the LGB’s. The fact that drivers will now be exposed to slightly more powerful cars; gain experience setting up cars (Wings on the Chevy powered cars) and driving on slick tires will help drivers bridge the gap if they are to graduate to the international scene. I think cost will still be an issue for youngsters to get access to these cars but the involvement of manufactures is great for the sport and breaks the monotony of having Maruti powered cars dominate the racing scene. What we need now is a few more tracks in India so that the sport is exposed to a wider audience and the drivers can gain experience in slightly different environments.

Basically, those engines will be plonked in formula cars and be driven as a separate engine class/series.
If participants can get the shell, and the above companies sponsor the engines,it'll be interesting...Mclaren, u listening??
