Re: Report & Pics: "Roaring Champions" - Drag Racing Series! 6th & 7th June, 2015 at Mumbai @Aditya - Nice review. Brilliant snap shots.
Just wanted to share a few things to clear doubts.
Our first few runs were test runs to get the tune right. Unfortunately I was lined up against the Aventedor and GTR. So none of them were right. We had severe wheelspin since the concrete surface offered the least of grips. We had to undo our drag radials and switch to tarmac tyres for better grip since the surface had concrete dust coming off line talcum powder.
What needs to change is the mentality of people in comparing a multi crore fast factory build super car with a home brew Indian. We were present only to take the indian candle forward and not to hurt the ego of the super car tycoons.
As long as that is clear we wont have comparisions of a GTR with a Honda city which was 100 ponies from factory. Its a task that we have achieved a best of 12.2 secs from a factory car which is 17 secs. And still struggling to get traction and put down all the meat underneath the hood. FWD and its limitations.
We are happy we clocked a 13.1 that day with zero grip levels with a more powerful engine the 12.3 run at Amby. So with more power, we had more issues with traction. Ultimately had to turn down the boost levels. No Indian car with Indian engine clocked under 14 secs. Had it been Amby Valley things would have been much better. Vasai needs to come a long way before even a stock car can set a proper time. Birens stock GTR was 0.5 secs slower over what a stock GTR is capable of. An AWD idiot proof GTR slid off the line when being launched off by Biren. Shows how grippy the surface was. So one can imagine FWD.
I'm sure things will get better and it was a great effort by you - Insaneroller to put up a show at this magnitude. |
