Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

..... in 2011 Buddh International Circuit bagged the Best Circuit award at Professional Motorsport World Expo Awards.....!!!

This is what it has come down to now? What's next?

Jaypee group has decided to rent out BIC for weddings

Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!-11222017_857694124306170_6512728526063202156_n.jpg

Like many of us, I still have great expectations from Jaypee Group, Circuit ought to be used for its real purpose

Very sorry to see this. But looking at the text written in poor English, Jaypee seems to be happy and proud of it.

They have also copied the F1 logo. Shameful!

Considering there isn't much happening in the Indian Motorsport Field, the owners of the BIC have opted for the best possible way to earn money and keep the track alive - weddings! (One of the best money making business in India - or for that matter - the world!)
As long as the BIC is not damaged I don't think there is anything wrong in doing this as you do need a lot of money to maintain an F1 track!
On a positive side - at least the owners are doing their bit to keep the track alive and haven't sold it off to a developer to build an ultra-modern residential township!

+1 you said it.

Such usage only will keep it in good condition but hope precedence is always given to what its really build for.

that poster is full of puns; coming soon and wait for the action... jeez, could it get any more corny? and that logo..

that being said, this is just sad. we all know what happens at weddings (no pun intended) and how they're conducted; hope the management has thought of something to keep the track safe.

I saw this today, in the mornies!

And I had just one thought. Shaadi season in Delhi, huge traffic jams.
Only in India, will you have a traffic jam on a race track too because of a shaadi!!

Pit to Lewis: "Its hammer time!! You need to build a gap of 45 minutes to Nico. There's going to a stop of 44 minutes for Mr. Kapoor's son's ghodi!"

For the Jaypee Group, this is probably the order of priority:

F1 - Big bucks, but not happening
Local Motorsport events - Good $$$
Car manufacturer events - Big billing. So many launches & drives happening there
Rich guys playing with their Supercars - Decent rentals
Individuals splitting the rental and having a track day
Track being unused

I think marriages & wedding receptions would be at the no. 2 position, along with the car manufacturer events. Spending crores on a wedding hardly raises any eyebrows for the top 0.01% of India. And if marriages are allowed, why not 2 - 3 day corporate workshops with some track time for 'team building' activities?

Just wait till one of the tent-wallahs hammers pegs (the tent-retaining variety, not the silly drinks one) and destroys the asphalt on the start/finish straight

Re: Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

Here in Mumbai, to take out the "barat" we have to take the police
permission as it happens on the public road. No such worries here.
The "Dulha" can proudly run his horse on the F1 TRACK..!
Use of the garage would be acting as the changing room for the guests.

Said that, I dont think that the management would allow/let-go any damage made to the track itself.
I hope/wish/pray that someday F1 would return back here.

Re: Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

Just checked this on Buddh International Circuit's Facebook page - they say "The wedding is not “ON" the track..we have a large area of open grounds and an infrastructure that can cater for all kind of events."

Guess all's well then?

Re: Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

Ofcourse it can't be on the track! They have a huge non-track open area to themselves. Reading the above comments, it does make business sense for them. However, they shouldn't have used the F1 logo-type for this.

Re: Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

Geez... Why did I get married so soon! Could have done it in an F1 track!

By the way, Are they planning to construct a chapel too? May be near the pits!

Though it generates revenue, it is like movie theaters getting converted to marriage halls. A purpose built building getting used for weird purpose.

Official confirmation on their facebook page with regard to wedding :

"The wedding is not “ON" the track..we have a large area of open grounds and an infrastructure that can cater for all kind of events."

They used to host concerts in these open grounds. Thank God, the track is saved.

Re: Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

It is really sad, things have to come to this " Barat ghar". I was there at inaugural F1 in 2011. I could have never imagined that things will come to this. Hope Jaypee could put it to better use.

Re: Buddh International - Wedding Banquets & Lawns!

&

Jaypee Group really seems to be in a desperate situation here. Heard there will have to be almost 60% layoffs across their entire staff. Recently one of college pals too got the axe!

On a lighter note, the Punjab residents amongst us be aware of the concept of marriage palaces all across Punjab. We now have an official F1 marriage palace.

Jokes apart, I think this may again turn out to be an invitation to trouble makers with open arms. Their will be security concerns when the rich spoilt Brats aka Delhi Barati's will create ruckus / insist on trying out their expensive cars on these tracks. Some may actually even try to enter the tracks somehow.
