The Volkswagen Vento Cup 2015 will be flagged off on 7th August. The first round of the championship will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway near Coimbatore from August 7 to August 9, 2015.



The inaugural race will see 21 drivers including 14 new drivers along with 7 drivers from the previous season will compete against each other in the race-spec Vento Cup car.



The race weekend will consist of three free practice sessions, one qualifying session and two races where the drivers will compete for championship points.



The selected drivers have had to go through a two-day fitness camp in Bangalore and a three-day pre-season test at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore.



The fitness camp focussed on improving the drivers' physical and psychological fitness and to provide them with insights on diet and exercise routines.

The pre-season test helped the drivers familiarise themselves with Vento Cup race car. Driver coach Rayomand Banajee gave lessons on racing lines, braking, cornering techniques, launch control techniques, flag rules and other aspects of racing.

Nissan and VW are 2 companies doing a lot for Motorsports in India. Not that others are not but they are consistently making us believe that there is a career in Motorsport in India. Both Polo cup and Vento cup are done seriously and consistently. And Nissan for not that fortunate has come up with the GT academy. One of my friends were there for the first set of 5 people selected for the outside India round and he came back with thousands of praise for the company. Brand building comes as a package for such events. Lol

Here are the results for the race 2 of the first round of the VW Vento Cup 2015:


Karminder Singh started sixth on the grid and eventually came up on the top by mid-race. From there onwards, he maintained adequate lead to take the chequered flag. This is his second podium finish in the opening round of the Vento Cup 2015:


Anindith Reddy finished second in the Race 2 of the weekend, once again:

As i mentioned earlier the brand building with these cars have started. They have despatched these cars to dealerships. Saw the 16 Number car at calicut Phoenix cars. Saw it in person. Loved it inside out.

Round 2 of the JK Tyre Volkswagen Vento Cup 2015, is scheduled between September 4 and 6, 2015, at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. The race weekend will consist of free practice sessions, one qualifying session and two races where the drivers will compete for championship points.

After Round 1, here's how the competitor table looks:

Round 2 of the Volkswagen Vento Cup concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway and the championship has now reached the Buddh International Circuit for round 3 & 4. Before the drivers race on the weekend, they will undergo a mid-season testing on 14th October for them to get accustomed to the new track. Post the mid-season test, the drivers will also have their second fitness camp on 15th October.

Karminder Pal Singh from New Delhi currently heads the leader board with 200 points, followed by Hyderabad’s duo Anindith Reddy with 196 points and Ishaan Dodhiwala with 158 points. Amongst the juniors, it’s New Delhi’s Sahil Gahuri leading the championship with a lead of 30 points over Rithvik Thomas.
