I just received an Invite on FB regarding the Drag racing event in Jakkur Airfield! I hope this is True

VROOM is an International Drag Meet held for two days closed arena extravaganza in the heart of Bangalore city. A call to all drag race enthusiasts for the much awaited International Drag Meet in Bangalore.
Event governing bodies include FMSCI and FIA.
From modified Indian Cars, Indian Bikes to Supercars & Superbikes all gunning to set the best quarter mile timing. Over 400 Participants & 10000 spectators from across India (Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gujarat, Delhi, Kolkata & other cities) to enter in this Federation Approved Motorsports event. The Participants Lineup included performance upgraded vehicles like: Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston, Nissan GTR, EVO, Porsche, SLS AMG, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Mustangs etc. In the Super/Hyper Bikes: Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Yamaha, Honda will be present with some serious upgrades like: Turbo/NOS/Big Bore/Alpha Tuned etc

Looks like this is going to be a MEGA event going by the Partners/Sponsors this event has got. Kudos to the team behind this for pulling this up!

Bangalore will see a proper drag race after more than a Decade

I happen to be in Bangalore this weekend and thinking of dropping by for this event for a while, does anyone have a schedule or any idea of what is happening when? I'm a car guy and mostly looking forward to watching the Foreign Pro Stock cars racing ....

Today it's just the 2 wheelers and the cars are tomorrow. I was there for scrutiny yesterday, there's a Porsche, Motormind's R8, Racetech's Audi RS7, a Cooper S and a couple of BMWs in the foreign class line up. I'd suggest you come around noon if you want to watch just the supercars race each other. Also there's a requirement for spectators to buy tickets on BookMyShow to get it. Not entirely sure if they'll be selling it at the event (Which they should). Carry an Umbrella, unless you'd like to sport a tan

That KL7 Polo looks delicious with its fluorescent green rally type alloy wheels.
Ive got a few scale models with wheels that colour - mostly Renaults and Skoda Fabias. Lovely they look.

Today I was passing by the Jakkur Airfield on my way back from Nandi Hills. Saw one or two straight line drag races between a couple of very well done up Honda City's. Took a few pics with the iPhone but the cars are too far off.

The whole paddock had a very festive atmosphere - what with those Marquees and all the rest of it!

Nice to see this motorsport airfield racing thingy in Bangalore.

- reva killing honda city.

Kudos to organisers for a well managed event.

A Brilliant event after a decade in Bangalore, very well organized I must say. The Scorching heat is Bangalore was too tough to bear ! The only let down was the MC who had no clue what she was talking..Haha

Audi RS7 was the Winner which clocked in 11.9X sexonds and in the Bikes it was the BMW HP4 which clocked in about 9.8X seconds !

The Reva is running on Hayabusa engine,apparently this person is into racing from 50 Years! It was a Treat to watch that car! Check out the video in my previous post, it has the Reva as well

Good as it may have been, but nothing beats seeing an Audi R8 V10 getting its behind handed over by a Maruti Zen and a Honda City! xD

If you watch the Video, R8 had a good lead vs the Zen but the above sheet says otherwise. May be he clocked that timing with some other car ?
