just heard sanjay is out with a broken gearbox

hi,
just back from raid, i ( moosa sherif ) navigated for ravi agarwal in reliabilty and leading till leg 2, in leg3 three we lost 40 minutes due to technical problem and finished overall 6th, leg 4 we discontinued due to electrical failure.

hi, we are out of the rally in leg3, myself ( moosa sherif ) and ravi agarwal leading the rally till leg2 in reliability then we discontinued due to electrical failure, i thought sanjay will win but he broke suspension in leg4 and in leg5 gear box broken,

I was expecting this, to be honest. I told Sanjay that Esteem is not the right car at least for this year.
Also told him how bad was the road on end July/early August...But tiger being a tiger...

Hey, Just what I thought wud happen did happen with him ... The esteem is not the right choice by any imagination for this event ....

Lets hope sideways manages completing the event in top slot ... though finsihing the Raid itself is a hurculean task !!

Rally esteem with full suspension. Further fine tuned in Coimbatore..

???lol: Sideways and I spoke about the Raid and preparations for it a few months back - he confirmed that under the Reliability rules your car must be stock EXCEPT for slight (he mentioned some limit to it) height adjustment on the suspension. I remember he asked me not to use the K&N as it wont pass scrutiny for Reliability. However, this is what the rules say:

9.4 Permitted Modifications
1. Roll Cage : Though not compulsory, it is permitted to fit a roll cage in
the competing vehicle. Any modifications made for this purpose are
permitted.
2. A ‘rally cabin’ may be fitted on those SUV’s having soft tops.
3. Under body protection for the engine oil sump and petrol tank are
permitted.
4. Two spare wheels may be carried. However both may not be loose
but securely fastened.
5. Extra lighting may be used provided that the number of extra lights
is even and they are not mounted above the lower level of the
windscreen.
6. Tyres and wheels are free including dia. of rim, tyre width and aspect
ratio. Alloy wheels are permitted.
7. It is permitted to fit a circuit breaker.
8. It is permitted to fit spacers/ variant knuckles for the purposes of
raising ground clearance of the car on all 4 shockers. Shocks are
free. It is NOT permitted to increase the length of the control arms to
correct camber that may have become changed as a result of the
body lift. A max of 2 inches lift is permitted by the spacer / variant
knuckle method.
9. It is strongly advised to install an odometer in front of the navigator.
Terra trip rally Computers may be used. The use of GPS is not
permitted. The odometer may not be a GPS based one. Laptop
computers are not permitted as they cannot be secured and their
size is sufficient to produce a significant safety hazard. GPS
derivatives like GPS assisted mobile phones, GPS receivers/data
loggers attached to DVD screens etc are not permitted.
10. It is permitted to modify the exhaust provided that the catalytic
converter is not removed and the exit point of the pipe, whose
diameter must remain the same as the original, is retained as per
the original mounting point.
11. Air filtration units are free owing to the excessive dust. Replacement
of normally aspirated engines with turbocharged engines are
permitted provided an OE engine is used from the same

suresh rana won the raid consecutive third time beating sunny sidhu, i just now spoke to ranas team mate bawa they are now crossing rohtang pass.

results are out - sideways has won the raid.

overall first in reliability series AND first in SUV category in reliability series.

Congrats Sideways, you have distinguished yourself in many ways.:)
