Gumball India will be run 2020 edition from Kanyakumari to Delhi.

This endurance drive will start from Kanyakumari in Friday 14th August 2020 and end at Delhi.

It is proposed to hold one drive every year with limited slots.

Crew of two people per car will be allowed.

You can take any route but have to check in at five checkpoints enroute.

More information will be rolled in at www.gumball.in in coming weeks.

If you want to give suggestions to improve or add to the format you are welcome.

Cash prizes for overall and trophies for three or four classes like:
-- Indian cars less than 1300cc
-- Indian cars more than 1300cc
-- All women
-- Senior crew 50+

Thank you Sudev. This sounds great and I am interested in participating. However, that link you shared redirects to a Facebook page, and since I am not on Facebook, it is hard for me to find out more details.

How much is the cost of participation? And how can I register myself?

Unrestricted modifications allowed while retaining the original engine block.

Entry registration will open at 1200 noon on May 1st. Only twenty registrations are on offer on first come first basis.

It is going to be gruelling drive from absolute tip of India to the capital. Non stop Google says shade over 48 hours.

For now the event is on hold.

We had hoped COVID19 peak would be over by now but seems is going to be a while before that happens.

We will reassess situation end August and if found suitable announce new dates.

In any case 2021 edition will be run from the Statue of Unity to Twang Monastery.

Gumball India 2020 is scheduled for December 25 to 27.

All early entries are subscribed. Standard entry list will open on November 16 @00:00

The drive will cover 3000+ km starting from Kanyakumari.

I don't remember when I saw the last Gumball Video - probably in 2004 or 2005 _ when it took place in on European country. I remember that eventwas mostly about super cars and participants were blatantly violating almost every traffic law. I believe the event back their focused on getting from one checkpoint to the other as fast as you can ( speeding, dodging cops etc.)

Is this Gumball related to the same Gumball?
Are there going to be any international participants?
Is Gumball a race?

First of all Gumball India is not related to the American or the European Gumball.

Gumball India would focus on navigating from one end of the country to the other while crossing mandatory checkpoints throughout the route

Competition winners are decided by least distance covered by them from start to finish while keeping the stops to minimum. An in car device will monitor and login total GPS data enabling complete tracking as well as generating distance and stop time results. The competitors have to to complete the drive within the maximum time allowed which itself would be based on average speed of approximately 50 to 55 kilometres an hour.

No route is given so competitors have to plot the best route while keeping distance coverage to minimum.

Frankly Gumball is the wrong name for the event. Gumball signifies being brutally fast, evading law enforcement etc.

Can you tell how the penalties for stoppages is calculated?
From what I could tell, if I stop for 1hr then a total of 60kms will be added to my final total.
Also, just a recommendation, starts should be allowed from both points. That way someone from North could start from Dehradun and end up at Kanyakumari and then make their way back leisurely as per their own schedule, enjoying on their way back.

Edit - Also how are you ensuring that it is the same 2 crew members driving all the way through. Is there going to be a camera inside the car?

This sounds positively dangerous for the participants and for other road users. How is this even allowed? The public highways are no place for hare-brained events like this.

This is not a high speed event, this is similar to TSD rally. The distance needs to covered in maximum time allocated and with an avg of less than 60KMPH, which could only be achieved by driving within speed limits.
There are penalty for every stoppage which means one cannot drive very fast and stop for a longer duration to get within the avg speed of 60KMPH.
This is an endurance event, best winner will be who can drive a well planned route, with consistency and with minimal stops.
