Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

Great to see this, finally we have an FIA class event for Indian drivers to participate and be identified. Though it will take some years, I believe this will give a fillip to Indians in Motorsports in the long run!

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

Much need series to give a boost to Motorsports in India. These cars seem to be much more capable than the ones currently used in the formula series in India.

One query. Is this a city franchise based model like the IPL/ ISL tournaments? Any idea on who are the owners of the team?

Ps: frankly am a little surprised at the lack of interest in this thread!

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

Well, finally some traction for motorsport In India again. I used to read more about events, especially in south India in the heydays of paper magazines. This would be in mid to late 90s.
Also, glad that the BIC will get to be used properly again. Now, if they decide on public viewership at the event for a fair amount of money, going to be good weekend outings!

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

I wonder if they will allow privateer drivers to do one-off races at a nominal fee. The current MRF Challenge formula series is quite expensive to sign up for and since this is below that series, I hope it's a more accessible entry point for young drivers.

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

BMC in Mumbai can only dream of organising the ‘Camel Trophy’ in July-August if somehow they can solve the traffic menace...

This would be interesting to watch a race organised on streets of India

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

The #7 car damaged the left section of its front wing while returning from the first lap over the bridge section... Maybe the driver got too excited seeing the crowd and carried extra speed over the bumpy section of the road?

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

Hi Tushar,

Its a brilliant concept and glad to see motor racing coming to India. I just wanted to check if you can provide more details around how someone can enroll/apply for this. one of my close friends' son is actively into motor racing in the USA and he is keen to explore this opportunity. Any details if you can provide via PM or by responding to this note will be much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Karthik

Re: Formula Regional Indian Championship announced

I'm associated with one of the teams as a consultant and am really keen in promoting the spirit motorsport in our society. If there are any veterans in this thread who have worked or are working in motorsport I need some advice and would love to discuss a few aspects surrounding this.
