The solution to this could be a street circuit for the time being and in the meanwhile a new track could be built slowly and steadily with everything in place.

We will soon have people like Maneka Gandhi oppose this, because of the possible threat to stray cattle (and/or street dogs).

Isn't that guy pushing into 80s now. Let him have some peace guys. Don't we have one more capable manager in this country.

Lets enjoy this Indian F1 race as many years as we can; I have doubts abt its long-term permanence.

My English language comprehension skills must be awful, because I do not see any statements saying that India HAS been awarded a GP in 2009.

A GP slot has been offered. Not given, not awarded, not no nothing, just offered

Has anyone read the official notification from FIA? Wait, it doesn't exist. Any confirmation from FOM or Bernie? Wait, that too doesn't exist. Just an offer.

And as much as I want F1 to be in India, the very thought of that corrupt criminal lowlife Suresh Kalmadi getting his dirty hand on F1 makes me throw up.

Take a look at how much Bahrain and Turkey have had to invest in their facilities. And do take notice how much Malaysia and China invested in core infrastructure *before* bidding for F1.

Where will the Billions come from? Looks like yet another case of premature ejac...er, premature celebration.

Having an F1 worthy track in the country is better than a street circuit in the long term perspective.
Also, international events like MotoGP,World Touring Car Championship(WTCC),Supercar Championship, Porsche cups, etc... can be held.

IMO, Its high time we got a FIA spec F1 track in the country.

having an f1 race is not just about having a track around which cars can go fast.
it is ALL about logistics. do you think we have the airports that can clear THOSE MASSSSSSIVE containers and that too 21 or more of those in 3 hours ???? also do you think we have roads from the airport to these palces.

I read in the papers we might get our first f I race in 2011.

cheers.

On a related note, Malaysia will lose the F1 race at Sepang after 2009. They reportedly said the whole operation was ending up as a nett loss for them.

USGP contract has expired and negotiations will start shortly to decide if it will continue.

Of course,we can!
The size of the logistics might be HUMONGOUS.But,we're not moving the earth here.
A handful of well experienced managers and teams can get the F1 job done here.
Also, Logistics isn't the only constraint. There are many.
Quality Man power can easily accomplish and i feel organising F1 in India is being made a BIG deal here. No, it isn't.
Its the time constraint in coming up with a facility in Delhi ASAP.
If its going to be a street race, the designated route will have to be shut down for a fortnight or a month prior to the race.
