Posting a summary of how the track day went off in SEPANG. I am quite bad at "story telling" - so my words below actually may not capture the excitement/scale/drama of this event

but im sure each one of you can add your own levels of imagination/visualisation to appreciate the nature of this event !

Firstly it was an all costs inclusive trip planned by Michelin India - so thanks to them!:)

day 1 - Reached K-L on 15th and the day was spent quite lazily doing nothing. the hotel we stayed was pretty close to the twin towers. so this is about all i did on Day 1

We were advised to retire early that day since we had to wake up at 530am next day to
leave for the track. I went to bed at around 9pm hoping to sleep well and wake up fresh
for the next day. but i ended up staying awake till 3am just thinking about the track day!

Narayan,

Stop being a tease ! :D Out with the report and pictures.

apologies - since i was off from work for 2 weeks i am just taking time in between to put in this.

i am herewith adding a more substatial portion of the track day

day 2

got up at 530 - hardly slept so there was not much of an effort to get up !

we left the hotel around 630 and reached the track around 8 am

I was told the MICHELIN PILOT EXPERIENCE ( MPE ) is a proper annual affair and people are brought from various parts of the world to the track for them to have this experience. so it was a thoroughly well organised event

at SEPANG - there was a warm welcome awaiting us from some senior Michelin staff and other organisers ( not to mention pretty umbrella girls :thumbs up )

we were taken up to the changing room where there were lockers for each one of us with our names put on it !
inside, there were racing suit, shoes, etc all to our sizes which was taken from us earlier

we changed into the suit and there was a brief intro session and a quick medical check up and every one was set to go down to the track

some pics..

DAY 2- continued

after the medical check ups, we were taken down to the track area

we were entering the pits and as we approached the same, there was this remote controlled garage door that was opened

as the door slowly moved up, we got to see one of the best sights that one can see in the track - the entire set of cars that we would drive/be driven in all neatly lined up along with the crew !

this comprised of

1) the FORMULA RENAULT/FORMULA MICHELIN - 200bhp/400kgs
2) GT 5 CARS - these were again single seaters with a fibre body - the yellow ones in the pics - weight i think is around 500kgs and engine is supposedly a stock HAYABUSA engine ( so around 175-180hp)
3) BMW M3s, PORSHCHE GT3s - dont know the specs but they were completely bare bones car with just 2 seats and roll cage. and I am quite sure the hood, bumpers etc might be carbon fibre or someother lighter material.
4) not visible in the photo - other cars were a SUBRAU IMPREZA - the older version with the HUGE INTAKE and a PORSCHE CAYMAN - it was a stock car I guess. both these however were shod with some track worthy tires

just as we went closer to the pit lane entrance to view these cars, there was quite a loud and beautiful wail from a distance fast approaching the pits..

it was one of the GT3s that was driven by the test drivers and it came and halted with a screech in front of us and this crew member uses some kind of pneumatic system to lift the car. it was a kind of DEMO for us but it added to the "grand-ness" of the intro to the track.

here are some pics..
