I am interested to know what times the Miata was clocking with respect to the other cars in the field.

A couple of questions:

1. Why are Cedias running alongside Balenos/Fiestas and Esteems? Isn't there a displacement-based classification?

2. Is nitrous oxide allowed?

Ananth, I don't see a Miata running anywhere.

Read carefully. I mention this race to be the Indian Open. Also the Fiesta's were to be running along side the Evo's and Imprezza's on Sunday. No idea what happened.

Its allowed in the group N categ (the one where anything goes) and the Indian Open as well if I am not wrong.

Indian Open says fuel is free. Indo-SL GT class says fuel is free but nitrous oxide is not permitted. And Gp N, no point has been made wrt fuel, but there are a whole load of restrictions, so it's not an anything goes class.

The 1400 and 1600 classes must have taken place. We were busy enjoying lunch at that time. The order was pretty much the same IIRC. Fiestas, Cedias, Balenos. No Indian car in its current state will be able to touch the Fiesta's. And they looked like they handled better than the Cedia's on track too.

Nawaz Bathena pulled off a neat overtaking manouvre on Gaurav Gill after the restart following Joshi's crash (looked like tyreburst but his car was also looking very dicey on all the corners throghout the day - with a wobbling rear).

She then kept the Fiesta at bay over 5 corners including the penltimate one where everyone thought the very unpopular Gill (at least up on the roof where we were) had the better of her, but the lady pulled off one breathtaking move to snatch it back in the next second.

Gill then crawled to a stop before the finish, and according to Duboy he probably did it "on purpose" because he got "beaten by a girl".

Any ideas why Gill is so unpopular, anyone? BTW I'm assuming the two MRF Fiestas had the same state of tune, because they looked like they came from two diff planets. Arjun Bala was way way ahead of the pack while Gill was always just ahead of the Cedias, staying ahead because the car was so obviously miles ahead on the curves.

Car No 28 was my son's hero of the day, though - the driver fought his way to #3 after starting at the back of the grid. Farhan took him to meet the driver - thanks for that in between your tight schedule !

The other highlight for the lil boy was the M800 that raced the Indian Open with all the big boys and stayed with the pack till the lil engine gave up on lap 5.

Steer, both the Fiesta's were not in the same tune. All you had to do is check their straight line speed on the main straight. Arjun Balu's car was much superior with regard to the engine at least.

Shailu, Gaurav's Fiesta did have a gearbox problem. I know it, because I saw him crawl to almost a standstill on the far section of the track unable to shift gears. After about 10 secs of struggling he managed to wrench it into gear and started the pursuit. Insiders info says, his gearbox had gone bust and he was having severe problems shifting into 2nd. I was told it would be rectified by Sunday.

Steer, which was car no 28?

Nikhil, 4 (?) rear engined zens were being built for the Indian Open by the CBE guys. But when the rules changes came about mostly regarding the weight, the idea was scrapped.
