More on how we got to CBE from Bangalore can be found here (Tristate meet at Coimbatore this Aug 25th. Who is coming to watch the race cars?).

Now we got onto track, parked the Elantra and saw these in the parking lot.

I had this picture of a decent looking blue swift. Then, we had to format the memory card and I forgot to capture it while leaving.

We got into the pits and saw these.

Give me RED!

Oh, I did manage to click the swift.

You see I am playing the teasing game by now

Since we went a bit late to the track, we missed the qualifying session for cars and the bikes. We though made it on time for the RD350 race.

Here is the line up:

RD350 Race positions.

The 4 stroke bikes line up.

Oh, forgot to mention. We did actually watch the superbike qualifying too.

I guess this is Arjun Gowda and the GSXR.

By now, the only TBHPians we had met were Harrie, Gkrishn & Quicksilver. No one else had come to track. Not atleast with us. I got onto track and spotted Sideways, Robin, Tifosi, shipwreck, cinclaturbo, chico, bobby jayaram. Seeing that there was no food being served on track and the ever so hungry the three musketeer's were, we decided to head back into town for lunch. Yes, at the cost of missing the SBK race and maybe the 1400 & 1600 class car races too.

We had an awesome lunch. Meals, chicken biryani, kabab's, chilly fish, fresh lime soda, mutton keema fry and god knows what. We all ate not knowing when we would eat again. We knew it would be a long and tiring day out in the sun at the track. We filled up diesel in the Elantra, gosh it hardly drinks about 1k diesel to go to CBE. And my Baleno drinks about 1500 bucks of petrol that too if driven under 100. With the Elantra most often than not we were 120+ all the time. Time for me to buy a diesel.

Then we lost our way, more importantly lost 15mins of precious time. We got onto the track at sharp 3pm. Luckily, just on time to witness the best Indian Race. Atleast from all that I have been to. Yes, even better than the Rolon's or any other single seaters.

We made it to the track ON TIME to witness the Indian Open race. Arjun Balu qualified 1st followed by Gill & Nawaz was third I think. I remember the commentator saying Ashwin Sundar was 11th. And he finished the race in 4th or 5th. The kid was driving a Baleno.

The most shocking part (not so to me) was to see the Fiesta's walk away with the top honours. The one Arjun drove was INSANELY QUICK. Not only that, it handled beautifully as well. Arjun's Fiesta was just 1.5 secs behind the fastest Evo on lap times. Gaurav had a faulty gearbox, wouldn't shift into 2nd properly. Nawaz did well to finish 3rd.

Look at where the last Baleno belonging to Ashwin is. He was 4th on track at one point of time, giving the MRF Cedia a very good run for its money.

Formation Lap.

The minute the GREEN light went on. Notice Ashwin's car, the red Baleno at the bottom of the pic.

Traffic jam at C1 and C2. Now, notice where Ashwin is. The last red car on the track in 6th place. Within the next two or 3 corners he went into 4th.

Look at Arjun's lead over Gill on lap 1.

The leaders. Arju, Gill, Nawaz (?) , Ashwin opening up a lead over the rest.

Ashwin in 4th ahead of one of the Cedia's and the other MRF baleno. He had begun the race in 11th just 3 laps ago.

Then Arjun caught up with the back markers. As he was lapping them he got held behind a couple of the esteems badly and Gaurav was just less than a car length behind. This is how it began.

End Result.

Gaurav was much closer to Arjun in the inner loop section. Its only after Arjun got onto the straight that he managed to pull away.

Very own TBHP member Poncho's baleno doing its rounds. He was one of the officials. I also forgot to mention that I met another TBHPian. Vivekphadnis, press reporter for Deccan Herald. Mostly lingers around in the ICE sections.

Baleno has a carbon fibre air intake, peddars suspension, custom exhaust amongst others.

FRK esteem belonging to Chico broke down. They were a few FRK esteems running NOS. Could that be the reason why it broke down? Too much strain on the engine?

The driver of the above mentioned car and also a inactive member of the forum.
