yea... thrs no doubt dat dis event was the most unorganised event ever in bombay. i was thr on both days & crowd control was so poor that the commandos eventually left & on saturday eve (after 4 or something) there were actually no security guards around. thats what u call management eh? & dont even ask bout sunday...i think most of u were der, so i dun need to say much

I guess the B'lore drag was far better?!! Din't have these kind of problems.. The only sad part being, we din't get to see the kind of machines u guys saw..

About the incedent, the same thing happened at B'lore, the guy accelarated after the finish ans went straight and crashed.. But it wasn't serious at all(both for rider and the bike).. Both suffered some scratches on their body thats all...

is it true that when the Merc v/s SL race was over and they were returning from the track itself, some of the public came right in front of the Ferrari?? [ no idea why?? ]

Well, it actually was a fully stock 2003 busa.. I know coz I rode that very same bike a couple of months back... I was also talking to the owner for quite a while before he went for the drag... A real nice guy.. From wot I heard, his condition is a bit better now. Hope he gets well soon..

***sorry for all***

would like to start with hoping for the quick recovery of the busa rider

waiting for a year to have some good fun for 2 days and get nothing at all how does it feel............

i feel i should have carried a gun

1] shot a few security guards.........they concentrated more on not letting people go to the track when i feel (like everyone they should have taken people off it)

2] also shoot people who were running on the track(especially when the subaru was about to take off) how could the drivers push the cars and themselves to the max if they have the slightest doubt that a person would be on the track........ :WTF:

3] finally get the guys who oragnised the event are responsible for the entire screw up and shoot them too

hope next years drags are nt organised the same way (better if they dont have it at all....

[ And what about that irritating female compere? I mean quit begging the crowd to cheer for an event where they are treated like **** and don't get to see anything. Give everyone something to cheer for, and maybe they'll cheer without your constant goading!

Common man she was pretty hot.. I got distracted at the start line when i saw her but she came up with the mic to my car and i rolled up my window.. was getting distracted .. hahhhah

You mean ferrari vs the sl race. the cars had to come back because the ramp to get to the other side of the road was too high for the ferrari to go through as it is low so they allowed them to come back

As for the way the events were organised I would say they were just about OK for the given conditions.

Given the case that we know that these issues have been coming up year after year it looks like the drags seem to be attracting both the right and wrong kind of attention:

1) right: Getting more and more people interested in performance motorsports
2) wrong: allowing the spectators to kill themselves on the track and off it too (guess too much adrenaline is bad outside the track)

It's high time we realise that we need specialised tracks that are enclosed, have seating areas and that do not allow the visitors trying dangerous stunts

Also the criticality of well laid tarmac with enough space for braking and a return lane cannot be questioned by any of us.

PS: I think they should display the times and also hand over each competitors the timeslips. This would help getting the spectators also involved in the races rather than just being viewers who see the start and the end of the race.

Hey,
Well no doubt that this was one of the most pathetic events organised.I mean wot the heck were all the slumwallahs n beggars doing in middle of the drag-strip.And moreover near the VIP arena, there were a couple of beggars. They were later chased out by the security.
The security went for a toss when the imported cars were leaving on saturday.Especially when the Ferrari was leaving, there was a mob of 100 plus people surrounding it and touching it all over. For gods sake,it was just a Ferrari!!
Saturday was fine enough, but Sunday was more like a 'mela'.Although the security was tightened and stuff, but wot was the need of a lathi charge and abusing spectators??
Autocar,BP and Hungama should learn a thing or two after wot happened at this years event and try and be more organised and responsible henceforth.

The credit to the over enthusiastic responce to this year's run goes to 'Dhoom' !

A significant % of the spectators were 'sadak chaap mawalis' who would not know the difference between an esteem & a honda city.
These were the people who created a lot of disturbance especially by crossing the tracks at the far end in between the drags.
And these are the very people who could be kept out by charging entry fees.

The organizers need not earn by charging fees, but at least they could make simple 'step' stands or something like that for people to sit & enjoy the event.
I saw this my self. About 15 - 20 jerks just strolled across the tracks from one side to the other between 2 consequtive foreign bike drags !!
Knowing how fast the vehicles would line up for the next drag, I was shocked to see that inspite of this intrusion of spectators, the drags continued without a pause.
If I was a participant, I would have refused to take off !!!

Haha! I know how you feel man, but don't wish the event away for God's sake! We could always just hope that experience teaches them not to repeat their mistakes!

I'm sure she was, but all I got was her annoying commentary, I didn't get anywhere near the start line on either day!
