Would You Pay Rs150/- To Watch Speedrun?

Hi,

So, just as an indication for next year, what IF ACI was to charge Rs 150/- for a weenend (sat&sun) pass to watch the speedrun?

Would you be willing to pay?
(This would mean that the crowd would be controlled and none of the unwanted riff-raff that seemed to be strolling in and causing a nightmare for the organisers, participants & viewers @speedrun 2005.)

R

EDIT - Money would go towards facilities and running expenses of the event. No profits made.

I dont mind 150 bucks but if your real strategy is to control unwanted crowd, then spend it on Tbhpian community, not for pocketing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put some extra facilities in speed run venue, give us a free drink or conduct a local tbhpians party on its anniversary or give us free bumper sticker or make the server even faster, or give us capacity to load 25 private messages instead of 15.

Its up to you or if you need the money for organizing just ask!!!

No offence to any one though , just my view

Vulken,

Speedrun and TBHP are not officially connected in any way. Hence lets not bring that suggestion into the picture for the poll.

I have edited the original post saying > "EDIT - Money would go towards facilities and running expenses of the event. No profits made." to clarify.

It should be more than 150/-.

I'm not putting any figure but it should be clear that it's just not an another weekend hang out. If one loves this kind of activity then he also should be in a position to enjoy it properly. And there is a price for it.

Don't we pay much more than 150/- for a concert?

Money should be in use to work out better safety arrangements. Snack/drinks stalls should pay token amount to put up their stalls. They're going to sell anyway.

Having all these in right shape means a better place. Bombay's current venue is not a place to perform speedrun. Somebody's mentioned some old air strip. A much better place to have speedrun. A better place to park cars. A better place to avoid unwanted weekend types.

How would charging people make up for a lack of proper crowd control? Unless the logic is that the money earned would go towards enhanced security, then yes.

But the basic flaw is that the venue in Mumbai - the Sea link road, is just to vast and open an area for any organiser to really secure.

Is it a reply to my post Rtech?

I think I've given my reason also there. Unless I've missed out something.

Yes, I would pay only if:
  • Proper seating arrangement, just like the VIP section is made throughout the track.
  • Speaker consoles must be set up throughout the track, so that everyone is aware of the race.
  • As said before, projectors or screens must be set up showing the race and also displaying results/times.
  • Snacks may be charged in public section.

In this way the crowd could be controlled since everyone should get a place to be seated. If tyre walls are present, there is no chance anyone can come close to the track. So security is enhanced automatically. I'll "try" to make a diagram to explain this.

P.S. Can we have "Shoot-At-Sight" orders for whoever comes on the track?

think they should have diffenrent prices for diff locations
ie 150,250,500 etc
wouldnt mind paying 500 for proper seating facing the drag strip instead of standing and being pushed around the whole time

ultimatley it depends on the kind of people coming in,atleast it will remove the riff-raff

It was just a reply in general. I didn't see your post till after I had posted (Multiple tabs open you see ) but I guess I was echoing your thoughts.

  • Depending on the area, you will be charged Rs 500, Rs 250!
  • The general public section and VIP section will be 5 feet high.
  • Between the general public section and the tyre wall, security guards will be allocated, so that no one jumps on to this area.
  • Ambulances are stationed close to the tyre walls in case of emergencies.
  • Gap between tyre wall and track is used for run-off area if anything goes wrong.
  • No fencing for track.
  • If needed, cars/bikes can return to start from the gap between tyre wall and general section, so that the next race does not need to wait.
  • For participants ready to race, there is a section at the bottom right. If required, it can be shifted to the right by doing the necessary changes.
  • VIP section will have one of the best views, the whole track ahead.

I don't think this is too much, coz you are getting finance from the public and you will also have lot of profits left which you can still use on some extra things at the event.
