Yeah. That is the one. Not too many Orange SX4s which happen to be TCéd!

Is it? I always thought it was the other way round with turbo cars being better at high-altitudes with the forced induction rushing in more air. Must check again.

Yes, it is memo's car. It was running at the event as the safety car and probably was one of the fastest cars that did the climb IMO, pity the organizers couldn't find the time to let him do a timed run .

And the record for the event I think is held by Bobby Jayram who clocked a 1:22. The best timing in this years event was Shabbir's 1:28.xx.

Must say this event was superbly managed, and very well executed. Despite the obvious disadvantage of a course over 1 km long, with hairpins and blind curves, and an unruly crowd, added to which it was a public road and residents/tourists had to be let through, the organisation was SUPERB. Pradeep Urs and his team did an outstanding job, and there wer no goof-ups with entries and classification. A far cry from the kakistocracy that seems to run Speed Run and that godawful Hyderabad drag.

Turbo cars will actually lose much less power at altitude as compared to NA cars. Turbochargers were originally added to petrol engines -- aircraft -- to compensate for oxygen deprivation at high altitudes.

All-time record is held by an F3 from J Anand's stables. I think it's 1:21.xx or 1:22.xx. Bobby Jayaram in an Indian car is just 1 second behind, IIRC. Maybe Sharan could clear it up.

Was the FRK honda running a SC? and i'm guessing the Supra would have lost a lot of time at the corners considering its lowered clearance.

Yeah that s correct, Fastest time is held by the MRF's Opel powered F3, driven by J Anand with a time of 1:22.8 . The fastest Indian car' s record is held by Bobby Jayaram with a time of 1:24.0 , this was set in 2003. By bettering his 25yr old record of 1.24.7 in a Herald special.

was it a stock zen? mpfi or carb? last time the hill climb happened , i sneaked out my sister's zen ( obviously stock) on the day of the event , took a spot entry ,and mu time was i.45 , the fastest that year among the zens was 1.42 ,iirc.

Very true, participation was all that i was looking for, but i was surprised at my timing..

My car is stock with only custom built endcan exhaust..

Cheers!!

I'm not sure if the supra would actually be the right choice, considering the steep hairpins and the Supras low ride.
