I am happy that me and my partner can get through. It was the Raid de Himalaya 2006 that got us to scrape through. My wife got her permanent licence only for the Raid. Imagine a scenario, she got her Rally Licence (Co-driver) before her permanent driving license.

Is this a 'Roadies' kind of competition? or something which tests driving skills, etc?
Since it says Great Driving Challenge, I'd want it to be the latter.

Just shot off a mail to HML pleading for a little relaxation to the driving license issue date rule. Hope these guys listen up! Guess the rule is just in order to make sure that participants are at least 20 years of age at the time of the challenge.

There was a bit about uploading a minimum of 5 photographs, 1 video and writing 5 blogs per day. Can't find it in the terms and conditions now. It should be fun I guess

Yup sounds like the great WRITING challenge! But what the heck, it does add a little spice. And its not like they are asking you to write an essay everyday!


Bit of a good news here. Just got a reply from HML guys about the license issue date rule:

"You need to have a driving license only if you intend to drive on the challenge. So though we will escalate this internally, as of now we can only tell you that you can go ahead with your application as a couple where the partner does not drive. Will keep you posted."

You are supposed to choose your destination, so you make your own challenge. The destination is to be decided by the participants. Each team can have different destination. You don't compete in the driving just the whole travelogue has to be exciting to win.

Only requirement is to post photos and write a blog daily.

Moreover car (Cedia), fuel, equipment including GPS and other stuff will be provided by HM. So all expenses paid trip.

So it is upto you to make it a GREAT challenge.

Arre it's just like writing a travelogue. Like the GQ run which guys here did. With constant updates through out the journey. It's the same thing this time all expenses paid!!!

I'm sure if the Yeti participates, and then writes a Yetiblog along with Theone they will win the contest.

I mailed these guys about what is it all about.

The premise is this. After the initial selection process(which is mostly voting) you are among the 10 finalists.
you will be given a car + some equipment like mobile internet blah blah.
So you go anywhere(your choosing), and post few pics and 1 video every day + a blog post.
In 10 days you must drive atleast 3000kms.
there will be public voting on your travelogue, and on the last day of the trip winners will be announced.


I wanted to go but have to give it a skip.
No vacation possible around 7th august
I am taking a huge long vacation around end august.
You have to go wherever there is mobile network, unless they are giving you a VSAT terminal with the car!!

So lets see how many couples from TBHP enter!
The finalists should have 10 BHPians, don't you think so!?
So if you have registered, post your profile here.
If you look at contest rules they clearly mention that you should try to get votes from your friends and Family.
Since TBHP is one big family, lets show them the power of family.

Make sure you application has weight, because its not all voting, judges also have quite a bit of power.
