Speedzone no more...

Hey

It seems that India's best standalone karting track, Speedzone, has been shut down to make way for Prestige Shantiniketan. A friend of mine went there a few days ago, and was told that it was off the track, for good.

Sad, ain't it?

Is this the one near ITPL? Yeah, that was probably the best in Blore.

It was based on the Spanish F1 track. I think it was Catalunya.

Yes, I heard about this too. My friend had gone there the weekend before they were closing down. I think they might be relocating somewhere though. dont know when that would happen :(

Only track other than Sriperumbudur (spelling?) certified to handle the Rotax karts. Now no TBHP meet at Speedzone, as we planned once upon a time... Hope like hell they relocate!

Yeah, DK Adikeshavulu. The property is Prestige Shantiniketan. Complete with Forum II. Prefer Speedzone.

SAD to know the speed zone is gone,
the way bangalore is growing and the needs increasing we might see some more nice places bitting the dust

no dude, even sriperumbudur cant handle the rotax as the track is like super bumpy for those karts...! Rotax can only be run at the coimbatore track now! Infact banglore was one of the venues of the asia zone rotax championship..!

I think the Kari Memorial Track in coimbatore is FIA spec and handles rotax karts. Have seen a couple of arrow karts. They are powerful like hell and just burn the track!

That's really sad news - SpeedZone was easily the best track in Bangalore. I'd been there about a month ago and karted till my thumbs blistered

What will I do now when I feel some Need for Speed?

Isn't Speedzone the one beyond Whytefield? Went there once. All they had were 15 bhp karts. They were handing them out to everybody, first-timers too. We reached there just a little before dark, just to realise that the track was unlit in most of the places. Anddd, my kart didn't have brakes, beat that. As if that wasn't enough, midway through a corner, my kart sputtered one last time, and the engine seized, with a nice patch of oil on the back of my shirt.

I guess I'm glad it shut down. It was terribly maintained. Would have killed somebody sooner than later.

The track itself was great. The karts are a different story, not to be confused though.

So now Bangalore is left with one track - Freeway 19, right? What's the condition of that track now? I heard they have their share of problems?
