it seems that 309 has an accord 2.4 engine set in the rear. rear engine, rear wheel drive. the car it ran against in the indian open category was a black Octavia RS which belongs to my friend.

That is mostly correct, it does have a Honda 2.4 engine but, it is mid-engined. This is the first time the car has run and it needs some serious sorting out. Once sorted out this car should be very interesting.

The Verna in the pic posted by furioussphinx truly impressed all, it not only looked very neat with that well designed and executed body kit, it also moved very neatly and pulled cleanly right from start line to finish line.

Cheers,

The reaction of the officials would probably be "As you know, motorsport is very dangerous"

How that is reason enough for not putting up the results on the net is anyone's guess. Go figure. This is Indian officialdom at its best, a little power, even less knowledge but they are out to prove that they are better than the aam junta i.e. you and I, so they will come up with some smart alec comment and laugh at their own PJs.

Unfortunately the guy who took photographs of the result sheet last time and posted the same here was otherwise occupied this Sunday hence we are left in the dark.

Cheers,

The event was better than what I withnessed in Jan when I participated.
However the arrogant officials remained the same.
Most of the Bangaloreans were stuck due to the floods and hence could not make it on time. Mr Venkat Rao promised that he will give us a trial run and practise on sunday, but later said No on sunday when we arrived. He then says it was a big deal he gave us the entry itself despite being late.
After having travelled 1250kms one way to reach Hyd, and all the promises he made..this is what he says.
The officials again have improved the package, but not their behaviour.
I took part in 2 classes and the timings were messed up in both cases. In the upto 165cc class, they never entered the timings off the slip and I was placed last. I had to fight a war to fix things and prove my point. I gave up on the second one however.
Its tough to win over the officials than over the competitors.
The timing display was a good attempt however the exit speeds were not displayed for all the bikes. I wonder why.
I finished first in the upto 165cc 4-stroke class on my Drag Fiero with an ET of 15 secs and an exit speed of 140kph.
Due to a controversial timing, I settled 3rd in the upto 260cc class on my Karizma with an ET of 16secs and exit of 134kph.

Madhu's Vtec was super fast and most of the bangy cars from Raj did well. As usual lots of Zens and Citys. The rear engined 306 was fun to watch.
The GTR was the fastest car and did 11s. No supra or anything could have stood a chance. Goes to prove that shabbir's claim of a 1000bhp supra was a fart as loud as his pipe.

Do the races take place on open public roads with the traffic stopped for those 30-odd seconds?

The drag races are conducted on a private road within the airport complex. This particular road is normally used only by some tankers to approach the fuel farm.
