Yes, the roll cage is planned around end-Dec early-Jan. I wont take the risk of doing this without a roll cage.

Great news. Best of luck Saurabh. Will it be part tarmac and part dirt?

As far as the SR (Supplementary Regulation) goes, all the 3 legs will be combinations of tarmac, forest roads, dirt, dry river beds and mountain roads and narrow passed with steep climbs. Veterans from previous years are saying that this year, average speeds would be much higher, eg, 3rd leg (Gelephu - Thimpu) of 230kms have an average running time of 7hrs.

what about tyres? get spare 185s for the rally

what about the engine? stock with FFE and intake?

do you want to keep the dark tints? AFAIK WB Govt banned tints - though Govt officials are still using tints.

what about fire prevention (Fuel Cut-off switch) and timing device?

who is the navigator? Nosu/Joseph (Nos Power)?

@ Sumitro / BP - the first round was part tarmac & dirt.

last but not the least - please update the black hawk thread with pictures of the BH.

I am running MRF ZVTS 175s. These have turned out to be very tough tyres. The ride is rough, but these really hold on the road, even wet roads very well and provides good traction and braking. Will stick to that, otherwise the metering will get hampered. Will be carrying 2 spares for the rally. Engine remains stock with FFE and intake.

I am a bit worried about the dark tints. The car came with it, otherwise do not prefer tinted glass. There's already a circuit breaker installed, so fuel cutoff is taken care of. There's also a fire extinguisher lying around in the car. Will get that installed.

Navigator is Nosu.

We are going a bit OT here - but i guess it is ok since your car will be a part of the rally.

Most of the Esteems run with 185s - don't they? have you caliberated the meter with the 175s on?

Congrats Nosu/Joseph

May be. The ones from our garage run on 175s and the meters are calibrated accordingly.

Thanks planet.

Well rather than the pics the performance is the talking point of Black Hawk. Took a brief TD of it on the Durgapur Expressway, boy oh boy what an improvement.

The fun part is there's more to come.

Anyone else planning on participation, would love to join in as Driver/Navigator in case someone wants to team up. Let me also check the regulations required.

I will be participating in the rally as Rally Official. We (me along with 2 other friends) will be travelling from Delhi in a Scorpio to participate. Will we be meeting any other bhpians at the rally?

IIRC, Saurabh M (Saurabh) and NOS Power (Joseph) are participating (Joseph will be the Nav') in Saurabh's rally prepped Esteem. Another bhpian evo (Deval) may participate in a Zen.

@ wandernomad - will you be in Kolkata for the initial flag-off from kolkata?

Thats good news. Will surely get a chance to meet up. As @planet mentioned, me and NOS_Power will be participating in my Esteem. No confirmations yet from any other bhpian.

This time, there will less participants from Kolkata, as some of them are participating in the Desert Storm in the following week.
