Bengaluru Autocross 2010: Official Info in post 3

Guys just read this in todays times of india. Hope to see you all there.

Big weekend for motor sports lovers
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Getiton Fun Ventures, in association with the Karnataka Motor Sports Club, will organise a two-wheeler supercross and four-wheeler autocross competitions at its facility near Bannerghatta Road from Friday.
Around 80 bikers will vie for honours in the supercross event and an equal number of drivers are expected for the autocross meet, according to the organisers. The competition will conclude on Sunday.
Free practice for twowheelers is scheduled for Friday while the competition will begin at 10 am on Saturday. The free practice for fourwheelers will be conducted on Saturday and the competition will be held on Sunday.
Both the events have got the approval from the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), Srikarunya, one of the promoters of the venture, said. “Our aim is to provide a platform for the youngsters who wish to make it big in motor sports. We offer a 1.4km go-karting track and a 1.4km dirt rally track in four and two-wheeler classes. Full fledged supercross and autocross tracks and a mountain bike trail are the other major attractions at the facility,” Srikarunya said.
The facility will be fully operational in next 6-8 months and the promoters are planning to host major events in future. Youngsters can hire and drive cars and bikes at the facility to fine-tune their driving skills. “Two fully-equipped rally cars and five bikes will be available at the facility,” he said.
Praneeth Perumal, Rally Commission chairman of FMSCI, expressed hope that venture will do a world of good in promoting motor sports in Bangalore. “I hope the facility will attract a lot of youngsters to take up motorsports seriously,” he said.
Rally driver Deepak Paul Chinnappa, who is participating in all the four the events, is all praise for the facility. “We do not have this kind of facility anywhere in India,” said the FRK driver.

BENGALURU: ``Infrastructre which promotes motorsports is missing in the country and this facility, the only one of its kind, fills that gap and motorsports enthusiasts can have a single point where they can do everthing connected to the sport at one place,’’ said Praneeth Perumal, Rally Commission Chairman of FMSCI at a press conference here today.

Srikarunya, the brain behind the event announced the facility and the inaugural event. FRK driver Deepak Paul Chinnappa, Kalyanasundaram, Chief Steward for the upcoming event and G Ramesh of IIM were also present on the dias.

Deepak, who will be participating in four events said that the facility is amazing. ``All the team members can have practice, tuning and everything at one stop without any hassles. We don’t have this kind of facilty anywhere in the country.’’

In keeping with the image of Bengaluru as a hot spot for motor sport and in an effort to provide a platform for those who are high spirited, an adventure park has been set up on the Bennarghatta Road on a 30-acre plot.

To coincide with the launch of this project, we will be conducting a Supercross and Autocross competition from January 8 to 10.

The unique venture, first of its kind in India, is designed to fulfill the growing needs of an increasing number of motor sport enthusiasts besides offering a multi-dimensional facility in related fields of activity.

Broadly, the “adventure park” offers the following:

- A 1.4 Kms long go-karting track

- A 1.4 Kms long dirt Rally track for both four and two wheelers

- A full-fledged Supercross (two-wheelers) and Autocross (four-wheelers) track

- A mountain bike trail

- Online and offline games

The project also envisages 20 fully-furnished log cabins, an artists’ village and well-appointed restaurants.

We hope to conduct year-round activities that include motor sport competitions besides Corporate events. Outside of the regular competitions, the adventure park will offer a “hire-and-drive” facility for serious enthusiasts to train and practice their driving and riding skills while providing a rare opportunity for the daring to experience the thrills of high-speed Rallying.

To this end, there are two fully-equipped state-of-the-art Rally cars and five bikes that customers can hire on a time-bound basis. Over a period of time, we hope to increase the number of vehicles.

While catering to the motor sport enthusiasts, it is our endeavour to provide a safe and controlled environment with emphasis on safety, said Srikarunya.

The Getiton, in association with the Karnataka Motor Sports Club, will conduct a Supercross competition for two-wheelers concurrently with an Autocross for cars at the Getiton facility, Bannerghatta Road (200 metres past AMC College) on January 8, 9 and 10.
