A new type of motor sport format being used in Summer Sprint 2010

Location: Delhi NCR
Date: 30 May 2010
Track: Off road fast pace gravel with sweeping curves
Vehicles: Open to any rally prepared car
Crew: Driver only

WOW.. this is something I do almost every other day at almost 3 digit speeds and sometimes 120+ in my suv on similar terrain.

This event will be super fun to watch.
Sadly I dont have a geepsy in India.

#Rally Sprint format
#Only driver will be in the car
#Two lap recce before the races
#Multiple drivers can drive one car
#Multiple cars by one driver
#Best lap ...timing for classification

Track: Super fast surface with sweeping turns and wide run off areas. This is not for faint hearted indeed and its all the way pedal to metal event.

Limited number of runs available!! Sorry but we can only accommodate so many within time frames available!! Fixed start time for runs, if you do not turn up you forfeit lap

The SR's sent for ASN approval. Entries are open.

The event is taking shape and more information is on the event web site.

Photos coming up soon, after I return from office, as well as some videos (best way to get there is to volunteer). In brief, track was 6.3 kms circuit, gravel/mud and extremely fast, winning times were 4 minutes 06 seconds through about 4 minutes 30 seconds. Outskirts of Delhi, mining roads roughly lying between Damdama Lake and connecting to a stright line between Chattarpur and Gurgaon-Faridabad Roads (these roads are now unused after mining was stopped. . .). All Maruti vehicles only (GV, Baleno, Esteem, Gypsy and Swift). Should become a regular feature soon. Hot summer day with breeze, so the dust blowing was the biggest hazard, no incidents/accidents other than a few engine failures

Race stage was ~6.4 kms with long straights, snaking lines, sharp bend, sweeping corner and some bumps with a deadly swing around a rock FF.

Overall Results:
1. Garuav Chiripal - Grand Vitara 04:06
2. Raju Verma - Gypsy 04:09
3. Sunny Sidhu - Gypys 04:13

And here's the 10-second amateur video using a Kodak Z980 camera in hot sun with a lot of dust too of the winnning moves by the GV that eventually topped the charts at Summer Sprint 2010.
