I have been involved in rallying for a long long time, first as a participant and now as an organiser and official. I directly oversee the organisation, planning, set up and running of the longest TSD event in the country - Desert Storm (http://desertstorm.motorsport.in/).

I believe that any decently prepared team has chance at the podium. I demonstrated this by taking fourth place in the recently concluded Rally of the Mughal Road run by organisers of Raid-de-Himalaya (HIMALAYAN MOTORSPORT OFFICIAL WEBSITE). This, when I was navigated by someone who had never rallied before.

I will hold TSD Navigation camp for teaching the fundamentals of TSD rallying. I will also address any concerns or doubts you may have. The camp would be strictly for those who would like to give themselves a fighting chance at the podium.

The topics will include:
TSD fundamentals 101
Road Book 101
Navigation using road book
Using time calculations
Examples and tricks
GPS or not? or Should I buy GPS?
GPS gyaan
Using results sheets
Rally planning

Each camp would be restricted to ten people only. It makes more sense for team to participate (driver and navigator).

Dates are September 19, 2010 or October 2, 2010.

You can en-roll for the camp by clicking here

The location is India Habitat Centre New Delhi

A question came by PM: "For TSD do I need to have expensive equipment like GPS/Terratrip?"

My answer not necessary. You can make a dent on the podium without investing in to these costly equipments. You just need to know how to go about navigating properly.

All the spots should have been filled up by now. Maybe it's due to lack of awareness of people about this form of motorsport.

Anyways, a great initiative from your end to help budding motorsports enthusiasts and wannabe participants to learn a bit or two about the sport.

Regards.

Invites sent to those selected for 19 Sep and 02 Oct camps. As there were more who wanted to participate priority was accorded to those who are participating in immediate rally(s).

Will announce another camp at a later date for those who miss out now.

Even after accommodating 24 people in first two training camps (19 Sep & 02 Oct) there is a wait list of about 7 people.

So any more interested in a training session on 03 Oct? Sunday?

When I saw the thread title, I was scratching my head as to what TSD stood for.

Curiosity got the better of me, Google tells me --> TSD Rally = Time Speed Distance Rally. Hope this is right.
