Caught up with Shrivz at the track today.
Pretty decent result, IMO.
He placed 11th in Race2 and clocked a best lap of 2:06.518.

Thank you nitrous!

It was a good weekend, in Race 2 I was overtaken under the yellow flag on the last corner of the last lap. So technically I was 10th. I've reported that to Race Control. Lets see what happens.

A deatiled report within a few days

I was there for the Round 5 of Polocup in chennai on 28-Nov-10. Unfortunately i was there only for Race 2, but it was interesting to watch, since this being my first time to go for a live race after so many years in chennai.

Apart from the battle for leaders i could not find much changes in positions lower down the order, but yet was pretty interesting and Munjalsavla i guess was the one who met with an accident in the arch near the final corner which was horrific.

Since it was a sudden trip to chennai i could get only the free tickets and was there in grand stand near the start finish line, is there any possibility to get a pass to get to the tower which is near the podium to vew the race? Do i need to become a member of MMSC or FMCSI to avail this facility? But got a chance to click on the sidelines of the track though

I will post some pics of the race, would upload some more once i download that from my cam.

Congrats Shrivz, may be you might not be all that satisfied with your position, but i hope you would have enjoyed your race. I have a doubt, why was your left window a bit down? won't there be a lift when windows are opened? i know it would be hot inside, but with window glasses a bit down, it would reduce the speed is what i have learnt in Aero, Please correct me if i am wrong..

Yes that was me.
Its actually the first corner (the one after the arch).

My accident happened in the first race. You can read about it here

It is hot inside is an understatement !!
its excruciatingly hot inside.

Slightly open windows wont affect the aero that much because we are not doing ultra high speeds.

But, i would advice shrivz to keep them close as it is safer that way.

Oh man, a pretty sorry sight i should say.. But the other fact is that nothing else has happened to the car other than the rear.

It would surely cost you right? Just in case if its possible for you to let us know, would you have to pay from your pocket too or would the sponsors look after this?

Looking at your VW shirt, i feel jealous it looks very professional right?

All the best for your Round 6 this month..

Yes, it will cost me dear.
Ideally, our sponsors should give us enough money to pay for this,
but unfortunately, most of us don't have any sponsors and we shell out from our pockets.

Also, unlike other Indian series' like the super saloons, not a lot of repairing is done in the Polo Cup, damaged parts are replaced outright.
This is to ensure that all cars are as equal as possible for the next round and also to maintain the look of the car.

For this accident both bumpers, alloy rim, right headlight, rear door, side skirt, rear axle and shock assembly and whole chassis will be replaced.

This is minimum, thorough checks at the factory will be done and other parts like brake assembly, etc. might also need replacement.

Nice.
I actually went to the polo cup website to see how you did -- but it showed me the results of some race in September (without me realising)... so i was a bit bummed at the result.
Glad to see that it wasn't so!

Thanks for the pics.

Shrivz,
Amazing stuff. So is this car allotted to you for the entire season? I believe so because you have it stickered with your sponsors right?

All the best and live your dream!!!!
