The 4th Indo-Bhutan Friendship Car Rally has been announced.

The only International event in the FMSCI calendar, this time, the rally promises to be more challenging, comprising of 4 legs and covering some of the most difficult terrains. Route will be:

Guwahati - Samdrup Jongkhar - Mongar - Trongsa - Thimpu

Brief itinerary is as follows:

Ceremonial Start : Feb 26, 2011, Sat, 9 am, Calcutta Club (Kolkata)
Reporting of all Competitors at Guwahati : By Feb 28, 2011; 7pm at Rally Office

Start of Rally Leg I : Guwahati – Samdrup Jongkhar, Mar 02, 2011, 7 am
Start of Rally Leg II : Samdrup Jongkhar - Mongar, Mar 03, 8 am
Start of Rally Leg III : Mongar - Trongsa, Mar 04, 8 am
Start of Rally Leg IV : Trongsa - Thimphu, Mar 05, 8 am

Entry fee : 20000 (unsponsored), Early Bird.
Last date for Early bird entry : 15th Nov, 2010
Format : TSD

Yes, me and NOS will be participating this year as well. Would be good to have Wanderernomad as a Marshall this year too.

20K is a bit on the higher side, but the organizers do provide good acco. Moreover, we need to consider the huge logistics effort that goes behind the rally to make it a success, especially in this difficult terrain.

Please try your best to be part of the 2011 rally as well. Will look forward to meet you, but, not until you have given the DVD for the 2010 rally

I know mate and I am so embarrassed that I cannot even begin to start explaining. If you dont mind Can I dump everything Raw onto the DVDs and send them across. Its the editing and compilation that has me scared into starting it. There is about 10 GB of stuff to sort out. If you are willing for the raw chaos you will have them by Tuesday next week, I promise.
And while we are at it, could you please check with the official photographer for the 2010 edition for our pictures? If you can get them well....

No worries Sir. I know its tedious to edit that many videos. You can send me the dump and I will try to sort it out. You can send it to me or Joseph. Will PM you the address(es).

I will be getting in touch with the FCRA folks for the 2011 entry details. Will surely check with the official photographer for the 2010 pics.

Its time to bring back some life to this thread.

An update from my side. NOS is not participating this time, due to some other personal commitments. Talks are at the final stage for my would-be navigator.

Seeking some info on the route from those who have done that side, maybe HVK, Sudipto-S-team, Navan. The route this time is : Guwahati - Samdrup Jongkhar - Mongar - Trongsa - Thimpu

Done anyone have an update on the Siliguri-Guwahati road conditions?

Time for a few updates to this thread.

The Ceremonial Start is now on 20th Feb at 9am from Calcutta Club. Would be good to see a few of our fellow BHPians over there at the flag off.

For me, its a new team, as Joseph is not available this year. It would be me and Saurav Chatterjee as my navigator. Saurav brings with him many years of rally experience and I am hoping that it would be a very good experience for me, teaming up with him.

This year, AFAIK, there will be around 6 to 7 teams participating from Nagaland, apart from the usual bunch from Kolkata, Siliguri and Bhutan.

The car is ready and I am doing regular testing to iron out the minor issues. Last Saturday, drove all the way to Ranigunj and back, in 6hrs nonstop, driving flat out all through. This year, apart from the car being able to deliver, it would be an endurance test for the driver and the navigator as well, going through the grind for 4 consecutive days. Hoping to put up a better show this time.

Its still not yet decided whether I will be driving up to Guwahati or sending the car by transport. Will keep updating this thread as things progress.

Strange but true, first it was Saurabh M & NOS_Power / Noskor / Nosu / Joseph (both team BHPians)

and now it is Saurabh M & Saurav C (mahakash - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/members/mahakash.html ) - he is still awaiting email confirmation / inactive - he joined through my referal.

So, atleast two Team BHPians (driver / Nav) continue to participate in the 4th Indo-Bhutan Rally

Saurabh (da) - please ask him to complete the confirmation / join using a fresh ID.

The rally office at Guwahati has not been announced yet. The flag off from Guwahati for the actual rally legs is on 2nd March, from the High Court ground, at 7am. Will be great to meet up.

Did not knew that he was on TBHP or has plans to be here. Passes are not required to go inside Calcutta Club on that day. Its open to all. Need someone to click pics on my behalf

This year, the TBHP rally team wishes to do better .

I will be going to Calcutta to get my visa renewed. If I get the visa, plans are to stay in US for a couple of years more and go back for good.
I miss the adda at Joydeb Da's garage. Please tell him that I will give him a call sometime soon.
