Today's Bombay Times front page had Raymond's Gautam Singhania leaning against his Ferrari 360.

Apparently he along with Autocar India Editor Hormazd Sorabjee are going to take part in the Gumball rally! Actually, the paper reports it as a Supercar rally or something, but I don't know anything else that races across Europe stopping at some of the best racing circuits in the world. So I presume it has to be the Gumball rally right??

Man, these guys are living all our dreams!! Atleast we'll get to read about it in ACI soon!

Here's a link to the article on the TOI site.

Nope, its not the Gumball...Its actually called the Supercar Rally Europe and is a much milder and tamer than teh Gumball.

Hormazd told me a while back that hes going to be in Europe to drive a Modena - I didnt know its going to be in the company of other supercars!! Lucky dudes

This really something. It was eye catching this morning in the BT. These two are really lucky. So what if it isnt Gumball its still a super car rally that too across Europe.

Hope to see good coverage in ACI

So did he buy the 360 there or did he already have it or did he rent it for the race??

And maybe next year he will do the Gumball!

Well this piece of news has come in Bombay Times as well, today.

But getting back to the drive, i don't think that they are aware of their fallacy. The 360 Modena is a great car to compete in. But 5000kms in Modena doesn't make it competitive any way. What a farce! Don't get me wrong, but the Modena is not built for everyday long distance cruising. For a race like this, all you need is a 911 Carrera 4S/Turbo/GT3/GT2.

As GTO mentioned in one of the posts before, Lonman, one of M5 Board's high profile members could go all-day during the last two gumballs in his GT2 at 180 mph, while topping at 208 mph. While the Modenas has to have a break every hour or two of hard-driving.

Looks like Singhania will not only run huge fuel-bills but also lot of blown up gaskets.

I back Ajmat. Sell your Raymond shares right away.

Hey Revv,

i doubt they will be driving as hard as the gumballers! This seems a tamed down "sunday-drive" for the richies. The only hard driving would be at the circuits they stop at enroute.

I'm sure the 360 would be more than upto the task of cruising at about 120-130 mph with the occasional 160+ blast.

BUT, as the car is rented, I don't think they'll be doing anything to risk damaging it. On the other hand, that would make for good reading...so my fingers are crossed!
