re: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 - Now Launched!

Usual Lamborghini visual drama a wee bit toned down if you ask me.But times have changed since the seminal Murcielago was first showcased to the world. It simply blew the world away! The Aventador will have a job on its hands to fill the Murcielago's shoes.I think it'd be wrong to expect something more visually overwhelming, because the Reventon has already done that!

That said,I'll reserve my opinion till I see the final set of pictures!

re: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 - Now Launched!

Murcielago has something in it which can never be ignored. I could not figure out what made me like it so much and what gets it the real "BULL" look.

Whatever I can say is I dont think that design wise the new Aventador can beat Murcielago.

What you guys say?

Regards

Design wise, it seems more refined and trust me, after the difference between the old gallardo and the new, i have extremely high hopes about the performance. The lambos are a totally different league in terms of performance when you compare them to other sports cars, with porsche coming the closest in terms of excitement.

Design wise it already beat the murcielago, since its more ergonomic and i'm hoping for a decent interior. According to me, the murcielago has one of the worst interiors for any car ever!

For me, the reventon is sad because its too much hype in terms of styling but doesn't deliver in terms of performance.

Pheww!!

Aventador LP700-4 features a super-stiff carbon fiber material Lamborghini developed with Boeing!

Source - Lamborghini LP 700-4 to use carbon fiber body - further details revealed

Lamborghini has divulged more details on the upcoming Murcielago replacement known as the LP 700-4.
New in those details is the body and chassis construction which will be made entirely from carbon fiber, according to Lamborghini's research and development head Maruizio Reggiani.
To create the LP 700-4's carbon fiber tub and body, Lamborghini partnered with U.S. aerospace company Boeing Corp. and the University of Washington for help in developing the material. The frame and body feature a stiffness of 35,000 Nm per degree of deflection. That's greater than in comparable supercars such as the Ferrari F50 (34,600 Nm) and the Koenigsegg CCR (28,100 Nm), and a huge improvement over the outgoing Murcielago (20,000 Nm).
The new 6.5 liter V12, upgraded from the previous unit with a different bore and stroke, doles out a remarkable 700 PS (690 bhp / 515 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. The gearbox, still supplied by Graziano Trasmissioni Group, is a 7-speed automatic (single clutch with dual sychronizers) with shift times of just 50 milliseconds when in "Corsa" (race) mode. For comparison, a Formula 1 racecar shifts in 40 ms. This transmission weighs 20 kg (44 lbs) less and take up less space than in the previous unit.
All that adds up to a curb weight of just 1575 kg (3,472 pounds) and with those construction details we get a better idea of how Lamborghini arrived at a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of only 2.9 seconds for the model, likely to be called the Aventador. Top speed is 350 km/h (217 mph).
The car also features a Haldex all-wheel-drive system and carbon ceramic disc brakes - 400mm at the front and 380mm at the rear. The F1-style suspension features horizontal dampers connected to double wishbones.
Lamborghini has trademarked the Aventador name in the United States but we still await Lamborghini's confirmation on the naming of the LP 700-4.

The model is scheduled to make its debut at the Geneva auto show in March.

re: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 - Now Launched!

Codenamed the 834, R&D head of Lamborghini shares some more info on the car:

Cues: the 834 will have all the traditional modern Lamborghini cues, meaning all-wheel drive, scissor doors and prominent air intakes. Winkelmann said it would be revolutionary but recognizable, and that its inspiration has come from the military (not unlike the military-aircraft inspired Reventon)

Chassis: "Stiffness and lightness are the words to remember," said Winkelmann, and the company has planted its flag on the battleground known as "power-to-weight." The body-in-white is 229 kilograms, torsional stiffness is 35,000 Newton-Meters/degree and it has been homologated worldwide already. The entire monocoque cell is carbon fiber – the tub is a Lamborghini-developed process patented by the company as RTM (Resin Transfer Molded) Lambo, a slightly different process than standard RTM, the A- and B-Pillars and rocker panels are braided carbon fiber, and the roof is prepreg carbon fiber. The RTM Lambo process has been developed in conjunction with its work with Boeing and the University of Washington.

Engine: The new 6.5-liter V12 has 18 percent more power but emits 20 percent less CO2 – 398 g/km – than the 6.5-liter V12 in the now-discontinued Murciélago. It develops 700 horsepower at 8,450 rpm and 509 pound-feet at 5,500 rpm; although displacement is the same, the bore and stroke have been changed to provide better acceleration and smoother, more elastic power delivery in stop-and-go traffic.

Transmission: The 834 uses a seven-speed, single-clutch transmission developed and patented by Lamborghini as ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) and built by Graziano. A single clutch was chosen because it is 20 kilograms lighter than a dual clutch and, said Reggiani, "You have to have the drop in torque so you feel like you're shifting, to give the emotion." There will be five shift modes: Auto, Auto Strada ('strada' being for comfort), Strada, Sport and Corsa. The gearbox's syncros can disengage one gear as they're engaging the next, so shift times in Corsa will be 50 milliseconds (Formula 1 is about 40 ms), 150 ms in Sport, and 300 ms in Auto Strada.

Suspension: According to Lamborghini, the 834 will mark the first time a pushrod suspension with horizontal dampers appears on a production car. The setup will keep the wheel in perfect alignment throughout the range of suspension travel.

Brakes: There will be 400 mm carbon discs up front, 380 mm in back, and it will have an electronic parking brake.

Interior: There will, of course, be improved roominess all around, the driving position is now dead ahead and not skewed to the right, and the dash cluster is a single, large TFT screen.

Safety: The 834 will have passive pedestrian protection, four front airbags and two side airbags

Looks are very promising, even with the camo, it reminds of an angry bull (Wall street bull )

Specs are mind blowing, cant wait to see it in flesh.

re: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 - Now Launched!

Just look at that thing. Its the definition of the word 'gorgeous'. I just cant wait for the official release and more pics.

Lamborghini's designers would be the envy of every company that makes supercars. The Gallardo, Murcielago, Estoque, Reventon and now this Aventador - all should be the best looking cars on this planet over the last decade.

The Mother of all engines and the suspension set-up.

Quote:
Worldcarfans: Drawing inspiration from F1 cars, the LP700-4 boasts a pushrod spring and damper setup which is connected to the bodyshell structure. This transmits forces from the wheel mounts to the spring/damper elements, which increases stiffness so the spring rates can be reduced to improve ride quality.
Furthermore, there's a steering system that can "think its way through a bend" and an aluminum double wishbone suspension that "masters the ideal balance between race-car feel for the road and plenty of comfort for ramping up the miles."
In a nod to practicality, the front axle is equipped with a hydraulic lifting system that allows the front end to be lifted 40mm. This ensures the car's underbelly will remain scrape free when entering parking garages or going over speed bumps.
Lastly, the LP700-4 features 19-inch wheels up front and 20-inchers out back. These are backed up by carbon ceramic brakes discs which measure 400mm front and 380mm rear.

re: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 - Now Launched!

The Murciélago will go down as a classic. The car was legendary in every sense of the word. The Aventador looks like a worthy successor. Lamborghini cannot go wrong with this one!

Cheers!

The heat is building! Even more snaps surface with thin camoes. The Avent is evidently inspired from the Reventon.
