This is the excerpt from a news article on yahoo.de.

Volkswagen offers his first car-sharing project "Quicar - Share a Volkswagen" from autumn 2011 in Hannover. Europe's largest automotive group draws it to the trend to the mobility concepts. Among other things, already Daimler and BMW have come up with their car-sharing programs "car2go" and "DriveNow".

50 fixed sites for rental and sale
In contrast to the CarSharing projects of the other two producers - where the fleet in the whole area is also in public car parks available - there are 50 fixed locations, where a vehicle can be picked up and turned off again at Volkswagen. In the medium term, there will be up to 100 starting points.

Carsharing fleet is for the time being from 200 VW Golf
In the Lower Saxony State capital, Volkswagen 200 wanted to use VW Golf BlueMotion. Powered by a 1, 1.6 liter TDI engine, consumes the compact car according to the manufacturer 3, 8-litres per 100 kilometres. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 99 G / km. An automatic start stop feature and recuperation are on board. Later, other models such as the Caddy and the beetle to be included with in the fleet.

Hire up to five minutes before the start of the journey
Registrations are possible in special shops in the city of Hannover. Anyone who has even logged can be booked vehicles over the Internet, a special app or via a call center up to five minutes before the start of the journey. With a smart card or a chip on the driving licence, the vehicle can be opened. The car key is available in the car. To the authorization, the driver must enter a PIN number on the touch screen.

Personal SD memory card included
For the CarSharing fleet, a new telematics and software solution designed for booking, reservation and vehicle control. All vehicles are equipped with a navigation and an entertainment system. In addition, customers receive a personal SD memory card, on which they can store individual goals and routes during the registration. Also for the own music, some space should be on the SD card.

what catches my attention is to have such kind of security in our cars here in India to avoid theft or at least it will discourage car theives.
