AMG Performance Drive 2011 at Monticello Motor Club, NY.

This year I made sure that I respond to the email on day 1. I had to sit on a waiting list last time. The event was worth it. You get to drive 3 laps and you can choose between C63, CLS63, E63 and SL63. I opted for all but E63. Only the CLS had the new 5.5 BiTurbo motor while the others had the good old 6.3.

It was a day with light drizzle and fog. We couldn't push these hotties to the limit but still it was fun. I really liked C63 followed by the SL63. CLS was good but it didn't feel really planted (compared with the other two).

There were other cars parked there for the touch and feel. The SLS was hot for sure but somehow the CL became my favorite. The interiors were simply awesome...

MB AMG USA does this type of events almost every year; in various major cities. They usually send invites to all MB owners but anyone can register. The registration is on first come first serve basis. Once you are registered and you have your reserved time, you just have to show up with a valid driver's license and enjoy these hotties!

You can have a max of 3 laps. You stand in line and when your turn comes, just jump onto the driver's seat. There is an instructor in each car who will coach (and sometimes scream!) you through out. They also have some decent refreshments..

All in all - amazing experience!!

Had the pleasure of driving these AMG cars here in Gurgaon last year or the year before (do not remember exactly). Driving these monsters elevates mortals to totally another level all together.

The only challenge I faced was getting "in" & "out" of these super low slung cars.

Motoring Nirvana nonetheless !!

I had the same issue: While "sliding in", I must have hit my helmet 2 out of 3 times and I was embarrassed to do that knowing the sticker prices of these hotties!
